Xinhua news agency quoted the Gaza Strip's Health Authority as saying that 81 people died in the past 24 hours in this Palestinian territory.
At the same time, the Hamas government informed that the shortage of necessities in Gaza, especially food, is still very serious, although the same morning, Israel reopened the Kerem Shalom border crossing for aid. It is expected that about 200 trucks carrying goods will pass through this border crossing into Gaza during the day.
In this situation, during a ministerial meeting attended by several counterparts from Arab countries and the European Union (EU), Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry called on international parties to directly support the Palestinian government's budget, emphasizing the importance of this so that the Palestinian government can continue to fulfill its duties.
The ministers affirmed the need to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, by achieving a ceasefire, ensuring the safe and full entry of aid, and opening all land crossings between Israel and Gaza to increase the flow of aid.
During the meeting, Mr. Shoukry demanded that Israel release tax revenues withheld by the Palestinian Authority and called for a halt to attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank.
The officials also discussed the serious humanitarian risks posed by the ongoing Israeli military operations in the city of Rafah, warning of the consequences for peace and stability in the region and calling on the Middle Eastern country to end these operations.
Also on May 26, AFP news agency quoted EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell at a press conference with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa in Brussels, Belgium, affirming: "I think an effective Palestinian government is also in Israel's interest, because to achieve peace, we need a strong Palestinian government."
For his part, Prime Minister Mustafa said: "I think it's time to be stronger and ask for a ceasefire. It's time to end the war."
