Ms. BTD (22 years old), from Ly Son district, was happy to see her child - a premature baby born at the 28th week of pregnancy, after being cared for by the medical team of the Provincial Hospital, is now healthy and ready to be discharged. As a pregnant woman with a history of premature birth, on February 18, 2025, Ms. D was transferred from Ly Son island to the mainland for emergency treatment in a state of abdominal pain, premature rupture of membranes, and breech position. Before being transferred, the Military - Civilian Medical Center of Ly Son district had informed the leaders of the Provincial Hospital about Ms. D's condition.
Doctors at the Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital advised Ms. BTD, in Ly Son district, on how to take care of her baby after discharge from the hospital. |
Realizing that Ms. D was in a dangerous situation and that if she did not receive timely emergency care, it would affect the lives of both mother and fetus, the leaders of the Provincial Hospital dispatched a free ambulance and a team of doctors and nurses to Sa Ky port to take Ms. D to the hospital in time.
At the provincial hospital, Ms. D was diagnosed with breech presentation, premature rupture of membranes, and fetal distress. Ms. D underwent emergency surgery and gave birth to an extremely premature baby boy weighing 1.1 kg. After birth, the baby continued to receive emergency resuscitation.
According to specialist doctor II Nguyen Xuan Minh - Head of the Obstetrics Department (Provincial Hospital), in Ms. D's case, the life of the fetus is measured in minutes. Therefore, the hospital raced against time in every step, from transferring the patient from Sa Ky port to the hospital, to consultation and emergency surgery. Those efforts helped us save the lives of both mother and child.
Not only in Ms. D’s case, recently, the Provincial Hospital has dispatched many free ambulances to Sa Ky port to pick up many patients from Ly Son district. At the same time, many patients from poor and near-poor households in the mountainous districts of the province have also received support from the Provincial Hospital to take them home after being discharged from the hospital.
"Along with constantly improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, we have put ourselves in the position of patients and built a policy to support free transport for patients in island districts and patients with difficult circumstances in mountainous districts of the province. Thereby, helping people reduce some of the costs when they are sick or in difficulty", shared Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tuyen - Director of the Provincial Hospital.
