DNVN - Microsoft has officially announced the second round of improvements to its Microsoft 365 Copilot tool, combining the web, work, and pages into a completely new system designed for the workplace.
Copilot Pages - the first new digital tool for the age of AI.
Copilot is the new user interface for AI. And it all starts with Business Chat (BizChat), a hub that brings everything from web data and job data to business data directly into the user's workflow.
BizChat is where users can work with Copilot as a partner, maximizing the value of all content within the organization, so every document becomes a reusable business asset. Today, we announce Copilot Pages, a canvas tool within BizChat designed for multi-dimensional AI collaboration. This is the first step in our new design system.
Pages uses temporary, AI-generated content and makes it tangible, so users can edit, add to, and share it with others. Users and their teams can collaborate on a page with Copilot, view everyone's work in real time, and partner with Copilot, adding more content from data, files, and the web. This is a completely new working model—multidimensional, human-AI-human collaboration.
For Microsoft 365 Copilot customers, Pages begins rolling out today and will be available later this month. In the coming weeks, more than 400 million people with free access to Microsoft Copilot will be able to experience Pages when they sign in with their Microsoft Entra account.
Boost productivity with Copilot
Today, millions of people around the world are doing their work within Microsoft 365 applications. That's where Copilot becomes an everyday assistant, boosting personal productivity and saving time.
Microsoft announced Copilot in Excel, allowing users to work with unformatted data in tabular form. The company also added new skills to fully leverage Excel's power with support for more formulas like XLOOKUP and SUMIF; conditional formatting; and the ability to interact with Copilot on visuals such as charts and PivotTables. Beyond numerical data, Copilot in Excel can now work with text...
Copilot in PowerPoint: Now available, the Narrative Builder in Microsoft PowerPoint helps users work with Copilot as a partner to build a first draft in minutes. Copilot uses prompts to build an outline with themes that users can edit and refine to create a first draft of their presentation. And with Brand Manager, Copilot can use company-branded templates as well as company-approved images from the organization's SharePoint library.
Copilot in Teams: In today's meetings, there are two important types of conversations: spoken conversation and chat conversation. Copilot in Teams can now understand and combine content from both forms to provide a complete picture of what was discussed. This feature will be widely available this month.
Copilot in Outlook: With Prioritize my inbox, Copilot in Outlook helps users quickly identify important messages, analyzing their inbox based on both the email content and their roles—who they report to and the email threads they've responded to. No more sifting through long messages; Copilot automatically creates a concise summary of each email, including why it prioritizes that message. And soon, users will be able to teach Copilot specific important topics, keywords, or people, ensuring those emails are marked as high priority. These features will be available in public preview starting in late 2024.
Copilot in Word: By the end of this month, Copilot in Word will allow users to quickly reference not only web data and work data such as Word, PowerPoint, PDF, and encrypted documents, but also data from emails and meetings. And it integrates this information directly into the user's workflow, helping them quickly get the best first draft.
Copilot in OneDrive: Copilot in OneDrive can quickly search all files to find information, making it easy for users to get details, summaries, and compare up to five files with a clear summary of the details and differences in the files—without opening the files. Copilot in OneDrive is currently rolling out and will be available this month.
Add team members with Copilot agents.
Accelerating all business processes with Copilot to increase revenue and reduce costs is the best way to gain a competitive edge in the age of AI. Copilot agents, now widely available, are AI assistants designed to automate and execute business processes, working with or for humans. They range in capabilities from simple tasks like reminders, responses, and replacing repetitive tasks to advanced capabilities and full automation. Simple and secure to manage, all Copilot agents adhere to responsible AI and are committed to ensuring user data never leaves Microsoft 365 and everything happens within the user's tenant. Users can also leverage built-in agents such as the new image creation agent and, soon, video agent.
To make building Copilot agents easier, Microsoft also announced an agent builder tool, a new, simplified experience powered by Copilot Studio. Anyone can create a Copilot agent right in BizChat or SharePoint.
Copilot agents and agent builder tools in BizChat will be rolled out to all customers in the coming weeks. Copilot agents and agent builder tools in SharePoint will enter public preview in early October.
