Outstanding individuals in artistic and creative work

BDK - Entering the stage of building the homeland after liberation, artists continued to work in art, creating works to serve the public, contributing to the cultural career of the province.

* Mr. Tran Van Huy - Meritorious Artist Phuong Linh (1955)

Mr. Tran Van Huy, known to everyone by his stage name Phuong Linh, is a reformed artist who has been attached to and dedicated to the performing arts for more than 50 years.

Artist Phuong Linh, born on May 5, 1955, is originally from Hoa Loi commune, Thanh Phu district. He began his artistic career in 1972, growing up from his artistic activities serving soldiers and people in liberated areas during the resistance war at Thanh Phu district's Art Troupe. He was awarded the Second Class Resistance Medal for his achievements in the resistance war against the US to save the country.

After liberation, from September 1976, he was sent for professional training at the Stage Arts School II (now the Stage and Cinema Arts School, Ho Chi Minh City). In September 1979, he returned to work at the Ben Tre Cai Luong Art Troupe until his retirement in 2015.

During his time working at the Ben Tre Cai Luong Art Troupe, artist Phuong Linh contributed to the art of Cai Luong through hundreds of roles. Among them, there were many roles that left an impression on the public, especially the role of Mr. Chin "Cum num" in the play "Mua chim la rot", which helped him win a gold medal at the Southern Professional Theater Festival in 2002. In addition, with his passion for Cai Luong art, care and investment in each role, artist Phuong Linh also received 2 silver medals at the National Professional Theater Festival in 1985 and 1995, the Medal for the Cause of Mass Culture in 1999, the Medal for the Cause of Vietnamese Theater in 1999. He was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist by the State in 2023.

* Mr. Nguyen Tan Thien - Huy An (1957)

Musician Huy An was born in 1957, originally from An Phuoc commune, Chau Thanh district. He began participating in the province's mass arts movement after liberation and was a musician who received formal training at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music from 1977 - 1981 (intermediate) to 1981 - 1986 (full-time university). From 1986 - 1988, he worked at the Provincial Song and Dance Troupe. After that, he transferred to work at units such as: Provincial Cultural Center, Provincial Intermediate School of Culture and Arts (Principal).

During his career, musician Huy An has made many contributions to the province's literature and art activities. He was awarded the Medal for Cultural and Informational Career in 1998. Silver and gold medals at the national mass art festival in 1977, and the Song of Rendezvous with 9 Rivers in 1992 (solo). He has an outstanding composing career, with 8 works winning high prizes at songwriting competitions and festivals at the Mekong Delta region and in the province.

In addition to the award-winning works, many works about Ben Tre homeland by musician Huy An have been staged and performed very popularly at events and cultural and artistic activities in and outside the province... Musician Huy An's compositions have been published in 13 collections from 1993 to present.

* Mr. Nguyen Van Sang - Nguyen Thao Nguyen (1957)

Writer Nguyen Thao Nguyen was born in 1957, originally from Tan Phu Tay commune, Mo Cay Bac district. He started working as a teacher at Ben Tre College (Biology department) and started writing literature when he was 34 - 35 years old. Writer Nguyen Thao Nguyen's first short story was published in 1991 in Ham Luong Literature and Arts magazine. Since then, he has been involved in literature and arts and has always practiced, cultivated, and maintained regular writing in various forms of prose for more than 30 years. Writer Nguyen Thao Nguyen's works are often selected to be published in Ham Luong Literature and Arts magazine, Dong Khoi newspaper as well as literature and arts magazines such as: Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts magazine, Literature and Arts magazine (Vietnam Writers Association), Army Literature and Arts magazine and magazines in other localities.

In 2011, writer Nguyen Thao Nguyen published his first short story collection "Chim vit cach chieu" and won an award from the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations in 2012. To date, he has published 5 books in various genres of prose (short story collections, memoirs, novels)...

For more than 30 years, writer Nguyen Thao Nguyen has achieved sweet fruits for herself such as: C Prize of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations (2012), 2 first prizes in the Mekong Delta short story contest (2015, 2023) and awards in writing contests in and outside the province.

* Mr. Le Xuan Doan (1961)

Poet Le Xuan Doan was born in 1961, his hometown is Tan Phu Tay commune, Mo Cay Bac district. He started participating in literary and artistic activities and has been a member of the Nguyen Dinh Chieu Literature and Arts Association since 1979. During his career, he has had many works published in magazines and newspapers in and outside the province, participating in and winning high prizes in many competitions. His works were selected for publication in the Ben Tre Poetry Collection, the Mekong Delta Poetry Collection, the Ben Tre Poetry - Literature Collection, and the Mo Cay Bac District Poetry Collection. During his career, he has published 3 poetry collections, including: "The Wind of the River" (1982), "Thuoi Ay Nay" (1992), "The Heart-shaped Flame" (2019).

Among his works, poet Le Xuan Doan has the excellent work "White Hair, Incense Smoke" which won first prize in the Mekong Delta Poetry Contest in 2004. The poetry collection "Heart-shaped Flame" won the C prize from the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations in 2020. Poet Le Xuan Doan also received certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee in 2004 and 2020 for these two excellent works.
