Emphasizing "we are here to honor President Ho Chi Minh - the great leader of the Vietnamese people", Mayor of Santo Domingo Dio Astacio recalled the famous saying "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom" that has resonated and inspired other nations.
He also shared that he was very impressed with President Ho Chi Minh's saying: "You can lose thousands of battles, but only when you lose your smile do you fail" - showing the spirit and resilience, indomitability in the face of adversity of the Vietnamese people.
"We know that Vietnam, with its rich cultural history, has demonstrated to the world the strength and determination of its people. By laying this wreath, we honor the close friendship between our two countries, based on mutual respect and the desire for prosperity for our peoples," Mr. Dio Astacio emphasized.
"If you haven't visited President Ho Chi Minh, you haven't been to the Dominican Republic"
Emphasizing the important position of the monument, General Secretary of the United Left Movement (MIU) Party and Minister of Regional Integration Policy Miguel Mejia said he told many guests "If you come here and do not visit President Ho Chi Minh, you have not come to the Dominican Republic".

The Prime Minister's visit to the Dominican Republic marks an important step in bilateral relations, the highest-level visit in the history of bilateral relations.
Sharing with Dominican friends and guests, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said he was very moved to be present at the inauguration and restoration of the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the capital city of Santo Domingo - a central location with historical significance, traditional education, and demonstrating the heroic revolutionary spirit of the Dominican people.
The Prime Minister was moved by the affection that the Government and people of the Dominican Republic have for President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam.

"We admire your heroic history of fighting for independence to develop your country, with the rich cultural and historical similarities between the two countries," said the Prime Minister.
The placement of the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the capital Santo Domingo and of Professor Juan Bosch - the first President of the democratic Dominican Republic in Hoa Binh Park, the capital Hanoi, has shown the close affection and mutual respect between the two countries.
At the same time, it honors the friendship between the two countries and peoples; honors the predecessors in founding the nation as well as building friendship and cooperation between the two countries; and is a "red address" to educate young people of the two countries about the close relationship between the peoples.

The Head of the Vietnamese Government also expressed gratitude to the Dominican Republic for dedicating a central location of historical significance and for devoting efforts to upgrading and embellishing the statue of President Ho Chi Minh.
In the current new international context, the situation has changed a lot, therefore, it is necessary to strengthen solidarity, multilateralism, no country can solve the problem by itself but there must be international cooperation. Promoting the tradition left by our predecessors, helping each other in the process of building and developing the country.

"Yesterday, I had a talk with the President and agreed to upgrade the relationship between the two countries to a new level, demonstrating high political trust and warm relations.
