This is the sharing of journalist Dang Thi Phuong Thao, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, at the online discussion: "Removing social housing bottlenecks" organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper this morning, May 31, in Hanoi.
Journalist Dang Thi Phuong Thao, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, delivered the opening speech at the seminar.
Attending the seminar were Ms. Ha Thu Giang, Director of the Department of Credit for Economic Sectors (State Bank); Mr. Ha Quang Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Housing and Real Estate Market Management (Ministry of Construction); Professor Dang Hung Vo, former Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; Mr. Nguyen Huu Duong, Chairman of Hoa Binh Group; Mr. Bui Tien Thanh, Head of Urban Development Department (Hanoi Department of Construction).
According to journalist Dang Thi Phuong Thao, in recent times, social housing (NOXH) has been one of the issues that has attracted great attention from public opinion as well as readers of Thanh Nien Newspaper.
Finding solutions to 'untie' social housing
For many years, the lack of social housing supply has always been an unsolved problem. Especially in recent days, in Hanoi, public opinion has heated up again because people jostled to submit applications to buy social housing apartments at the NHS Trung Van project (Trung Van Ward, Nam Tu Liem District) regardless of day or night.
With so many people submitting applications, on May 20, under the hot weather, the lottery to buy social housing for NHS Trung Van was held at Cau Giay District Stadium with about 1,500 people coming to draw lots to win the right to buy nearly 150 apartments. The competition rate for social housing apartments is likened to the entrance exam to a public school.
Leaders of Thanh Nien Newspaper presented flowers to guests attending the talk show.
As a prestigious daily newspaper of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, with the leading circulation, along with implementing the purpose of propagating the policies of the Party and State to young people, Thanh Nien Newspaper also has the strength of counter-argument, fighting against negativity, corruption, criticizing policies, contributing ideas on related issues, especially those related to people's lives to be an information channel to the Party, State, Government, and National Assembly.
Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper shared: "The need for social housing is also the need of young people. New entrepreneurs, young couples who are workers and intellectuals have a great need to find a home that fits their financial capacity, while ensuring the quality of life to devote themselves to work and develop their careers. That is a valid need and consistent with the principles and purposes of Thanh Nien Newspaper."
From this discussion, journalist Dang Thi Phuong Thao hopes that experts will share, contribute ideas, and seek solutions to advise the Party and State to overcome difficulties.
"Through the discussion, agencies, departments and branches will listen to the opinions of businesses - those who are very passionate about the social housing program, but there are still many procedures that need to be removed and resolved. In addition, policy experts, experts from the Ministry of Construction, the Department of Construction, and experts from the State Bank will provide solutions to remove bottlenecks, contributing to ensuring social security," journalist Dang Thi Phuong Thao expressed.
According to the Ministry of Construction, after more than 10 years of implementation, the implementation of social housing development has revealed many shortcomings and difficulties. Statistics show that in the period 2011 - 2021: Hanoi only built 28,300/56,000 units; similarly, Ho Chi Minh City built 21,200/69,700 units; Binh Duong 9,000/86,900 units, Long An 2,600/71,200 units. Meanwhile, the specific demand is: Hanoi 136,000 units, Ho Chi Minh City 345,000 units, Long An 310,000 units. That is, the construction rate only accounts for about 10 - 20% of the demand.
To clarify the "picture" of social housing and propose solutions to the Government and the National Assembly, Thanh Nien Newspaper organized a discussion "Removing social housing bottlenecks".
