On the afternoon of August 20, the plane carrying General Secretary and President To Lam, his wife and the high-ranking delegation of our country arrived at Noi Bai International Airport, successfully concluding the State visit to China at the invitation of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping for 3 days from August 18-20. As a particularly important foreign activity between Vietnam and China this year, the visit was a great success in all aspects, contributing significantly to the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, contributing to peace, stability and development of the region and the world.

This is the first foreign visit of General Secretary and President To Lam after being elected to the position of General Secretary of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The Party and State of China arranged a very solemn and thoughtful reception according to the protocol of a State visit with many exceptions. "With special affection for comrades, we always follow every step of China's development and are extremely happy about the great and important achievements that the Party and State of the Chinese people have achieved under the core leadership of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping in the 10 years of the new era, especially since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China," said General Secretary and President To Lam. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and key Chinese leaders especially emphasized that Comrade To Lam's first state visit to China as head of the Party and State of Vietnam is of utmost importance, demonstrating the high regard and top priority of the two Parties and countries for the Vietnam-China relationship, believing that this is an important time for the two countries to bring bilateral relations to a new height, deepening and substantiating in all aspects. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping affirmed that Vietnam is a priority direction in China's foreign policy; supporting Vietnam to persist in the Party's leadership and promote the cause of building socialism. For Vietnam, consolidating a favorable foreign policy situation to realize the development goals set by the 13th National Party Congress as well as long-term development goals. For China, a neighboring country, a leading developed country in the world and a large country, it also creates favorable conditions for Vietnam in the process of socio-economic development in the coming time.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said that, closely following the spirit of the Joint Statement and the common understandings of the high-level reached during this visit, in the coming time, the two sides will focus on promoting cooperation in five main aspects. In particular, continuing to maintain strategic exchanges between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries, consolidating the foundation of political trust, and jointly orienting the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance; fully promote the role of the Party channel, the mechanisms of the Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People's Congress of China, of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the mechanisms for exchanging defense, security, and diplomacy. "On the basis of the "6 more" orientation, continue to concretize the high-level common perception and signed agreements; bring substantive cooperation to new progress; facilitate trade, expand exports of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to the Chinese market; promote strategic development connections between the two countries, well implement the Cooperation Plan connecting the "Two Corridors, One Belt" Framework with the "Belt and Road" Initiative; accelerate the promotion of "hard connections" between the two countries on high-speed railways, expressways, border gate infrastructure; upgrade "soft connections" on smart customs, smart border gates", said Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son. The Minister also said that the two sides encourage and support enterprises with strength, reputation and advanced technology to invest in the other country, focusing on strengthening cooperation in the fields of agriculture and infrastructure; expanding cooperation in new fields such as: digital economy, circular economy, green economy, clean energy, renewable energy.

During the visit to the localities, the two sides signed cooperation agreements, which are opportunities to upgrade bilateral border gates between Vietnam and China, upgrade the transport infrastructure system for trade and expand relations in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and deal with non-traditional security. The two sides increased people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and localities, especially educating the younger generation about the tradition of friendship between Vietnam and China. During his busy schedule in Beijing, General Secretary and President To Lam also took time to visit and work at the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China, where General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and Chinese leaders such as Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi once held the position of Principal.

"Promoting the political advantages of the Party channel relationship, enhancing theoretical exchanges on Party building and national management, ideological issues, contributing to advising the Central Committees of the two Parties on important issues in protecting the ideological foundation, fighting against peaceful evolution, self-transformation, preventing peaceful evolution plots, expanding forms of experience exchange in training and fostering theoretical research cadres. The two sides can co-organize scientific research seminars and discussions in both in-person and online forms; continue to discuss the implementation of common theoretical research topics on important new issues of mutual concern. A notable highlight of the visit was that the General Secretary, President and the high-ranking delegation of the Party and State visited Guangzhou city, Guangdong province, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's arrival in Guangzhou, a vibrant revolutionary land of China and the region, as an International Advisor to the Communist International. The place where President Ho Chi Minh organized political training courses and established the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, creating the premise for the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam later. Also during the period from 1924 to 1927, President Ho Chi Minh and Chinese revolutionaries established a very close friendship that was later described by President Ho Chi Minh and Chinese leaders as "the close friendship between Vietnam and China, both comrades and brothers". There are many stories and specific contributions of Vietnamese patriots and revolutionaries to China's revolutionary cause. Also in Guangdong, looking forward to 2025 when the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025), the senior leaders of the two Parties and countries decided to make 2025 the "Year of Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange". General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife attended a warm and emotional meeting with representatives of friendship organizations, relatives of revolutionary generals, experts and advisors who helped Vietnam in the resistance wars, cadres and staff who have been participating in the preservation of relics related to the Vietnamese revolution, outstanding Chinese intellectuals, scholars and researchers on Vietnam, former Chinese Ambassadors to Vietnam and Chinese youth. The Chinese delegates were moved to share their memories of President Ho Chi Minh during his time working in China; about the days of standing side by side with Vietnamese war invalids and sick soldiers to soothe their wounds, and sharing about activities to preserve, maintain and promote Vietnamese revolutionary historical relics in China. The delegates affirmed that they will continue to inherit and continue the "close Vietnam - China relationship, both comrades and brothers", persevering in the common ideals and beliefs in the cause of construction and development of each country.
