The official website of the DPR quoted Ms. Puan as emphasizing that “Indonesia-Vietnam relations are like brothers in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)”, and also said that “the closeness between Indonesia and Vietnam is also reflected in the friendship between the two fathers of the nation, President Sukarno and President Ho Chi Minh - two like-minded friends with the same vision and mission to fight against colonialism and imperialism in the world”.
The National Radio Indonesia (RRI) quoted Ms. Puan emphasizing that the relationship between Indonesia and Vietnam is not only a strategic partnership in many fields, but also a long-standing brotherly friendship founded by President Sukarno and President Ho Chi Minh.
Meanwhile, Okezone.com reported that Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani had a bilateral meeting with Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on inter-parliamentary cooperation. Okezone quoted Ms. Puan as expressing her belief that this cooperation will strengthen the friendship between the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Vietnamese National Assembly, as well as have a real impact on the strategic partnership in many areas between the two countries, including trade, investment, clean and renewable energy, and connectivity.
According to the online newspaper Detik.com , the MoU between the Indonesian House of Representatives and the National Assembly of Vietnam aims to strengthen friendly relations between the two countries, especially in information exchange, consultation, training, capacity building and delegation exchanges between legislative bodies.
Quoting Ms. Puan speaking at a joint press conference with National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Detik said that the two sides emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation, as well as steadfast support for ASEAN in maintaining peace and stability in the region, through the support of parliamentary diplomacy.
The official Antara news agency assessed that parliamentary cooperation will support Indonesia and Vietnam in dealing with transnational crimes such as illegal drug trafficking and illegal fishing.

The Indonesian House of Representatives Speaker supports the government's goal of raising bilateral trade to US$15 billion by 2028 and hopes that the two countries can jointly develop cooperation in the field of renewable energy, aiming to reduce the use of fossil fuels in accordance with domestic and regional regulations, according to Nusantara TV (NTV).
In addition, Ms. Puan also supported efforts to enhance connectivity and develop tourism between the two countries.
Also related to cooperation in the field of renewable energy, Kumpuran newspaper quoted Ms. Puan as emphasizing that the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Vietnamese National Assembly can ensure that each country has sufficient financial resources to accelerate the implementation of the renewable energy transition.
