Late on the night of November 9, the Air Quality Monitoring Portal of the Department of Environmental Pollution Control, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment updated air quality hourly, showing that many places in the North such as Hanoi, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Ha Nam, Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen had air quality at a bad level (red warning).
Notably, the monitoring station at Gang Thep Stadium (Trung Thanh Ward) and Hung Vuong Street (both in Thai Nguyen City, Thai Nguyen) has very poor air quality, at the purple warning threshold - people's health is affected.
Previously, from morning to afternoon of the same day, the above localities also had poor air quality. Particularly in Hanoi, monitoring results on Nguyen Van Cu Street (Long Bien District), Khuat Duy Tien Street (Thanh Xuan District), and Giai Phong Street (Hoang Mai District) all had poor air quality.
At measuring point 556 Nguyen Van Cu street (Long Bien district, Hanoi), there was a time when the air quality was measured at a very poor level.
As of the morning of November 10, according to the Air Quality Monitoring Portal, provinces such as Thai Nguyen, Thai Binh, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Hai Duong, Bac Giang, and Phu Tho still have poor air quality.
The monitoring point at 556 Nguyen Van Cu Street (Long Bien District, Hanoi) continues to have very poor air quality.
Previously, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Dr. Hoang Duong Tung - an environmental expert said that according to monitoring information released by authorities, Hanoi and many northern provinces have entered the "season" of air pollution.
Air pollution “recurs as scheduled” despite many localities taking steps to find and prevent sources of pollution and PM2.5 dust. According to Mr. Tung, the “season” of air pollution usually lasts from October to the end of March of the following year.
How does poor air quality affect health?
Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , many medical experts said that when air quality is bad and there is a lot of dust in the environment, the first and most obvious people affected are patients with existing respiratory diseases.
Poor air quality makes people feel short of breath, cough a lot, accompanied by chest tightness and signs of an acute attack will appear. Therefore, people with respiratory diseases should not go out unless absolutely necessary during times when the air is polluted.
For patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, it is necessary to comply with and maintain daily medication as prescribed by the doctor. When there are signs or symptoms of discomfort or difficulty breathing, it is necessary to increase the dose of bronchodilator according to the doctor's instructions.
