Many "timeless" works after 50 years of national reunification

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Hong Son emphasized: The seminar is one of the contents in the series of activities summarizing 50 years of literature and art in Ho Chi Minh City, after the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); it is also a meaningful milestone for those working in the field of literature and art to look back and evaluate the half-century of literature and art, with all the responsibility, affection and enthusiasm for the development of literature and art in Ho Chi Minh City in the next stage.

The Organizing Committee received 86 papers, after review, unanimously selected 65 papers to make the yearbook. The content of the papers is different perspectives on thematic groups on achievements and solutions to build and develop the city's literature and arts after 50 years of the Liberation of the South and national reunification.

At the seminar, delegates exchanged and discussed focusing on issues such as: Achievements of the city's literature and arts after 50 years of the Liberation of the South and national reunification, practical issues and directions in the coming years; solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, increase resources for building and developing literature and arts; solutions to link the development of literature and arts with the tourism and service sectors, forming worthy cultural and tourism programs and products with the characteristics of Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, delegates also discussed solutions to build a cultural industry in Ho Chi Minh City; the impact of information technology and social network development on cultural and artistic activities; the role of the city's press, publishing and media agencies and social networking platforms in promoting and introducing literary and artistic works; solutions to preserve and promote traditional literary and artistic forms typical of the city...

Speaking at the seminar, Master, People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized the achievements of the city's literary and artistic activities in three main areas. Specifically, the field of music with a series of outstanding works such as: The song Spring in Ho Chi Minh City (author Xuan Hong, composed in 1975); The country is full of joy (composed by Hoang Ha); The song from the city named after Him (music: Cao Viet Bach, lyrics: Dang Trung, Cao Viet Bach); The city of love and nostalgia (music: Pham Minh Tuan, poetry: Nguyen Nhat Anh)...

The film industry has works that just mentioning their names brings great pride such as: Wild Field (director Nguyen Hong Sen); Flip Card (director Le Hoang Hoa); Far and Near (director Huy Thanh); Saigon Special Forces (director Long Van)...

Ho Chi Minh City is considered the cinema center of the country. Currently, there are more than 100 establishments registered and producing and distributing films in the city, of which 30 are operating regularly. The whole city has 38 cinema complexes with more than 200 screening rooms, serving more than 4,000,000 audiences/year. The success of Ho Chi Minh City cinema in recent times is the good promotion of socialized resources. The Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival was held for the first time with great attraction from famous international filmmakers, with the number of participating films reaching more than 400 films from many countries.

The art of Cai Luong Theater in the early years after liberation also created a golden age with a series of plays that created standards for theater art, many artists affirmed their names and singing and acting talents that were famous in the country, such as: People's Artists Bach Tuyet, Le Thuy, Minh Vuong, Trong Huu, Thanh Tuan... with the plays Doi Co Luu, Tieng Trong Me Linh, Nguoi ven do...

At the Master's seminar, People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy also presented a number of solutions to implement the project "Strategy for developing the cultural industry in Ho Chi Minh City until 2035". Accordingly, the goal of developing the cultural industry is linked to the orientation of building a creative city. Ho Chi Minh City is registering to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of cinema... which is seen as the city's development goal to elevate the city to the status of a global city, contributing to the sustainable development of the country, the region and the world.
