The People's Committee of Da Nang City has just sent a plan to arrange administrative units at district and commune levels for the 2023-2025 period to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to this plan, after the arrangement, the city will have 47 units including 36 wards and 11 communes. Thus, 9 wards (20%) will be reduced, mainly in the central districts.

Specifically, in Hai Chau district, Hai Chau 1 and Hai Chau 2 wards will be merged to form a new administrative unit with the expected name of Hai Chau 1 ward.

Merging Binh Thuan and Hoa Thuan Dong wards, the new name is expected to be Hoa Binh ward.

Merging 3 wards Phuoc Ninh, Nam Duong and Binh Hien, the new name is expected to be Nam Binh Phuoc or Nam Phuoc ward.

As for Thach Thang ward, the People's Committee of Da Nang City proposed not to or has not yet arranged due to special factors of culture, history, national security and defense. This is the place where many important agencies of politics, diplomacy, security, national defense in Da Nang City are concentrated and has Dien Hai Citadel, a special national relic.

Meanwhile, in Thanh Khe district, Thanh Khe Dong and Hoa Khe wards will be merged, the name of the new administrative unit is expected to be Thanh Hoa ward.

Merge Tan Chinh and Chinh Gian wards, the new name is expected to be Tan Chinh Gian ward.

Merge Tam Thuan and Xuan Ha wards, the proposed name is Ha Tam Xuan ward.

Thac Gian and Vinh Trung wards were also merged, the new proposed name is Thac Gian ward.

As for Son Tra district, An Hai Dong and An Hai Tay wards will be merged, the new name is expected to be An Hai Nam ward.

At the district level, Da Nang has an administrative unit that is encouraged to be reorganized, Thanh Khe district. Specifically, the administrative unit boundaries are adjusted, merging part of the natural area and part of the population size of Lien Chieu district into Thanh Khe district, period 2026 - 2030.

The People's Committee of Da Nang City said that the arrangement of administrative units at district/commune level is an important political task with a large and complicated workload.

Da Nang proposed that the Ministry of Home Affairs consider the above plan in a way that does not cause too much disruption to administrative units, facilitates State management work at the local level, and limits impacts on people's lives.
