Chairman of Petrovietnam

On April 15, at the conference where the Prime Minister worked with state-owned enterprises with the theme: State-owned enterprises pioneering in digital transformation and promoting growth, leaders of many corporations and general companies shared that they are implementing many important cooperations on digital transformation to promote growth.

Applying technology and digital transformation to cope with fluctuations

In particular, Mr. Le Manh Hung, Chairman of the Board of Members of the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group (Petrovietnam), said that he has cooperated with technology corporations such as Viettel, VNPT, FPT to deploy digital initiatives; operate digital products and provide digital technology solutions.

Especially in the context that Petrovietnam is strongly influenced by technology trends, energy shifts, as well as being very sensitive to geopolitical issues such as challenges from US tariff policies, exchange rates, interest rates, etc. Therefore, the group builds the worst-case scenario when oil prices can drop to 55 USD/barrel; restructure and diversify export markets, aiming at the domestic market.

Thanks to that, it is expected that in June, 2 export contracts to Northeast Asia and Europe worth about 1 billion USD related to the energy industry will be signed. From now until the end of the year, each month a project will be put into commercial operation. For example, in May, there will be the Dai Hung 3 project, adding about 10,000 barrels of oil per day; in June, the Nhon Trach 3 project; in July, Kinh Ngu Trang; in August, Nhon Trach 4...

According to Mr. Dang Hoang An, Chairman of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), to fulfill the task of ensuring electricity supply for economic growth of 8%, EVN itself cannot complete it because it only accounts for about 36% of the country's capacity and 41% of output.

Therefore, the group has built an operating scenario, promoted investment in power sources and grids at a high level and applied digital transformation to increase operational efficiency.

However, Mr. An said that the most difficult part now is improving internal processes, as in the first quarter, they had to "rebuild and demolish", remove old processes, and change working methods. Therefore, the EVN chairman expressed his hope to strengthen coordination between businesses, and coordinate with a number of corporations and information technology businesses to have more products and solutions to serve the management of businesses.

Connecting businesses through digital transformation

As a technology enterprise, Chairman and General Director of the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) Tao Duc Thang shared that based on closely following three contents including creating smart digital government, digital society and digital economy, Viettel has so far participated and accompanied agencies and localities in digital transformation.

Accordingly, Mr. Thang expressed his wish to soon realize specific policies and action programs to implement Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, as a foundation to connect businesses with each other.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) Luu Trung Thai proposed prioritizing digital transformation opportunities, large technology projects, and new platform projects for state-owned enterprises to promote leadership. Allow state-owned enterprises to have a salary payment regime like private enterprises; based on revenue, profit, and investment in digital transformation.

Agreeing that state-owned enterprises must coordinate with each other, learn from each other, support each other and with private enterprises better, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested relevant agencies to review, propose and immediately remove institutional obstacles. Especially related to the law on management and investment of state capital in enterprises according to the principle of "only manage what you know, do not manage what you do not know", increasing decentralization and delegation of authority.

He also requested that state-owned corporations complete processes, regulations, and standardize according to digital transformation; build databases, digitize documents and records to promote, develop, and use artificial intelligence; develop digital infrastructure and contribute to the development of the country's digital infrastructure; develop digital products; train and develop digital human resources, contributing to the development of digital citizens as the foundation for sustainable growth.
