Number of people working abroad exceeds plan
Workers working abroad have higher incomes than those doing the same job in the country; they also contribute significantly to the country's foreign currency, increase savings and improve their own and their family's lives. In addition, workers also improve their skills, accumulate work experience, professional skills, sense of discipline, industrial style and foreign language proficiency, work attitude and social knowledge. Currently, many young people want to work abroad to change themselves and their family life.
This is most clearly demonstrated by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs setting a target of sending 125,000 Vietnamese workers to work abroad under contracts in 2024. However, in the first 10 months of 2024, labor export enterprises sent 130,640 workers to work abroad, reaching 104% of the plan.
Along with efforts to solve domestic employment, Hanoi also focuses on solving employment through sending workers to work abroad.
In particular, the implementation of the program to send workers to work in Korea and Japan under the FPS and IM Japan programs has brought good job opportunities, stable income, improved skills, foreign language proficiency, accumulated experience and social knowledge for workers. According to information from the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in the first 10 months of 2024, 4,034 workers were sent to work abroad in the city.
To facilitate workers' access to labor export enterprises, when the Hanoi Employment Service Center conducts mobile job fairs, it invites licensed enterprises to recruit workers to work abroad to participate.
At these sessions, many workers, students and pupils learn about vocational study abroad and overseas labor export to prepare themselves.
Having just learned about companies that organize sending people to study abroad and work abroad at the 2024 Ba Vi District Job Exchange and Consulting Session, Ta Duy Anh - a 12A1 student at Tran Phu High School (Ba Vi District, Hanoi) shared: "I hope that after graduating from high school, I will be able to work abroad in Taiwan (China), in the Mechanical Engineering field, to have a high income and learn about their culture. At the Job Exchange Session, I was consulted by employees of labor export companies about the conditions and skills needed before going abroad to work. I plan to learn Chinese right after my high school graduation exam to be able to work abroad soon."
Work abroad with high income
According to information from the Department of Overseas Labor Management - Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan (China) are the 3 labor markets that many people choose to work abroad. Sharing information about recruiting workers to work abroad, Mr. Phan Thanh Binh - Head of Ba Vi Representative Office of JIS Human Resources Development Joint Stock Company said: "Every month, we need to recruit about 100 workers aged 18 - 40 to work abroad in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and European countries. Candidates who have graduated from junior high school or higher can participate in jobs in Mechanics, Restaurants - Hotels, Nursing; the Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering industries/professions require workers to have college degrees.
At this time, Thuan Thao Human Resources Company is recruiting many people to work abroad. In the Japanese labor market, workers can do many jobs, but candidates prioritize choosing Restaurant - Hotel staff, Food processing, Mechanical processing... For the Taiwanese labor market, candidates also prioritize choosing jobs in mechanical workshops. Regarding the salary of workers working in the Taiwanese labor market, it is slightly lower than in Japan. However, the Taiwanese labor market is preferred by many workers because it does not require language skills and does not require long waiting times.
“The salary in Taiwan, calculated in Vietnamese currency, is about 25 to 30 million VND/month; the salary in Japan is from 30 million VND/month or more,” said Mr. Trinh Trung Duc, an employee of the Japanese Recruitment Department of Thuan Thao Human Resources Company.
According to those working in the labor market, monitoring labor market information over the past years shows that many young people want to work abroad. And from the beginning of 2024 until now, many young people are still interested in the program of sending workers to work abroad.
“In response to the desire of many young people to work abroad, we have arranged for them to participate in job consultation and transaction sessions organized by the People's Committee of Ba Vi district in coordination with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Hanoi to learn about market information, have a career orientation and prepare for language and finances. When the session comes, young people will get information about labor export from enterprises, and when they have a need, they will directly contact them,” said Mr. Mai Xuan Minh - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Thai Hoa commune, Ba Vi district.
Workers who work abroad after returning home become quality resources, helping to spread industrial style, labor discipline and being a cultural bridge between Vietnam and the world. Consulting and supporting job referrals for this force contributes to providing high-quality human resources for the labor market as well as helping them access businesses, especially foreign-invested companies, which has been implemented by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
As a result, over the past 12 years, the Overseas Labor Center has coordinated with relevant agencies to organize nearly 90 job fairs and job fairs attracting nearly 2,000 businesses to recruit many suitable positions. As a result, over 17,000 workers upon returning home have been connected and advised on suitable job positions with good salaries.
Young people who go to Japan to work as mechanics for 5-6 years will gain a lot of work experience, along with being trained in discipline and accuracy. With Japanese language ability at N3 level or higher, when returning home, they can easily be recruited by Japanese companies in Vietnam. If workers want to start a business, they can buy machinery to open a mechanical workshop and receive goods to work. In case workers are fluent in Japanese, they can become Japanese teachers for those in need.
