On the afternoon of July 1, within the framework of his official visit and working visit to Korea, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam - Korea labor cooperation forum with the presence of hundreds of Vietnamese workers in Korea.
Workers after 4 years of working in Korea all mature
Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said that over the past 32 years, labor cooperation has become one of the focuses of cooperation between Vietnam and Korea.
The number of Vietnamese workers in Korea is currently about 120,000 people, of which about 50% follow the Korean foreign worker employment permit program (EPS program).
Vietnamese workers go to work in Korea in 3 forms: EPS program; high-quality training program; crew and fishing boat program.
Currently, 16 localities in Vietnam are also cooperating with South Korea in labor. Among the hundreds of Vietnamese workers returning from South Korea, many have become bosses.
That is why Korean agencies have come to Vietnam to discuss and decide to let excellent Vietnamese workers return to their home country with higher quality and professional training requirements.
Most Vietnamese workers after 4 years of working in Korea have matured and become important human resources in large Korean corporations.
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung believes that the labor cooperation between Vietnam and Korea will continue to expand in the direction of training high-quality, high-productivity, and better-income specialized occupations. Through that, the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Korea will be promoted.
Mr. Lee Woo Young, Chairman of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, said that Vietnamese workers have contributed a lot to the development of both countries.
In 20 years, the number of Vietnamese workers entering Korea is more than 13,000 people, ranking 2nd among countries sending workers to Korea.
Among them, many Vietnamese have completed their labor process in Korea and continue to return to this country to work. This is a valuable human resource in developing cooperative relations between the two countries.
Mr. Lee Woo Young emphasized that the Korean Government is very interested in the labor cooperation program with Vietnam. However, he also expressed his desire to shorten the entry process for workers to Korea and build a new mechanism for labor selection.
Sharing with the Prime Minister and ministries of the two countries, Ms. Le Thi Tinh (from Thanh Hoa) said that after graduating from high school, she learned about the Korean work permit program for foreign workers and was selected by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and supported with a loan of 100 million VND.
Thanks to a series of practical support policies from Vietnamese agencies, she has now "escaped poverty" and has a job with a stable salary in Korea.
Mr. Le Van Huy (born in 1989, in Hanoi) shared that due to his family's financial difficulties, he went to Korea to work with the help of many local authorities and departments. 12 years of working here has helped him learn a lot.
In 2016, Mr. Huy applied and two years later officially got Korean citizenship and bought a house, opened a Hanoi noodle shop in Korea. Currently, he is expanding his investment and has a good source of income.
Realizing the "Korean dream"
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his joy that dozens of Vietnamese workers have been accepted back after returning from Korea. This is proof of the cyclical nature of labor, showing that the presence of Vietnamese people in Korea is extremely necessary.
The Prime Minister informed that there is still a lot of room for labor cooperation between Vietnam and Korea, because Korea is in the process of aging population and labor shortage, while Vietnam is in the golden population period. The two sides can complement and support each other.
Korea is in need of recruiting many workers in the industrial, agricultural and service sectors with high requirements. Therefore, Vietnam must improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation and change the way it works.
The Head of Government reiterated the statement of the Chairman of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, that those responsible must do everything possible to help workers realize the "Korean dream" when working and living here. Therefore, according to the Prime Minister, it is necessary to make sure that workers are respected, loved and devoted to the relationship and development of the two countries.
The Prime Minister suggested that Korea take the lead in training international human resources, including Vietnamese workers, and at the same time send highly qualified experts and managers to work in Vietnam.
Expressing his wish that Korea continue to increase the quota for receiving Vietnamese workers, the Prime Minister emphasized:
Agencies need to share information to create a favorable, safe, friendly, and culturally harmonious environment for Vietnamese workers in Korea. At the same time, ensure that workers enjoy their legitimate benefits, work with peace of mind, and comply with local laws.
In the spirit of “harmonious benefits and shared risks”, Vietnam is always committed to listening, accompanying, supporting and creating all favorable conditions for foreign enterprises and workers in general and Koreans in particular to invest, do business, work and study effectively, long-term and sustainably in Vietnam.
"Vietnam considers your success as its own success," the Prime Minister affirmed.
The Prime Minister hopes that Vietnamese workers in Korea will take advantage of the opportunity to improve their knowledge, skills and experience, and learn the serious and professional working style and attitude of the Korean people.
When returning to Vietnam, they will be good businessmen, skilled workers, and exemplary citizens, contributing to the development of their homeland and country as well as the good relationship between Vietnam and Korea.
Vietnam will have the most preferential policies to attract investors, semiconductor and AI experts.
