Many people fall into the 'trap' because of the fake fanpage of a tourist facility in Quang Binh

Since the beginning of April, a series of tourist facilities and accommodations in Quang Binh have had fake fanpages created by bad guys. These pages post many great promotional programs.

Many tourists thought it was real and paid a deposit, only to find out they were scammed. By the time they realized it, their communication had been blocked.

Create fake fanpage to scam

According to Mr. Le The Duy Hoang - CEO of Poseido Hotel Quang Binh (Truong Phap Street, Dong Hoi City), the hotel has continuously received many phone calls from customers in the past few days. These people said that they had transferred the room reservation money through the fanpage named Poseido Hotel Quang Binh.

However, it was suddenly blocked and could not be contacted.

The hotel checked the image of the fan page that the customer deposited and discovered that it was a fake fan page. Notably, this fake page was designed almost exactly like the hotel's real fan page.

On this fake fanpage, the scam group also used images, information, and logos of the real page.

Not only that, the fake site also offers many promotions and services at unusually low prices.

“This makes it easy for some customers to fall into the scam. After the customer transfers the deposit, the owner of this fake page will block contact and disappear,” Mr. Hoang said.

Len Chua Ecostay tourist area in Xuan Trach commune (Bo Trach), some other large hotels and resorts in Quang Binh such as Melia Vinpearl, Bang Onsen, Sam... also encountered the situation of being impersonated by criminals as above.

Be alert on social media

After receiving information from customers, many tourist establishments in Quang Binh have updated information about fraudulent behavior and used many channels to warn customers, especially during the peak tourist season.

“We also collect relevant information and report this scam to the police, and report the fake Facebook page to Facebook for timely handling,” Mr. Hoang informed.

Mr. Dang Dong Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh - also said that the department's professional departments will strengthen their grasp of the situation and tricks of scammers, closely coordinate with the police, mass media, accommodation establishments... to regularly update, propagate and warn to prevent damage to tourists.

Regarding the incident, the leader of Quang Binh Provincial Police confirmed that he had grasped the situation and continuously issued warnings. This agency also required tourist establishments to immediately report any fraudulent behavior so that the police could assist.

“For people, in order to avoid falling into the trap of scammers, it is necessary to equip themselves with the necessary skills when transacting on the internet, carefully checking information and verifying directly over the phone, especially when making money transfers,” a leader of Quang Binh Provincial Police recommended.
