Police cordon off Westfield Bondi Junction shopping centre in Sydney following reports of multiple people being stabbed there on April 13.
Hundreds of people were evacuated from the shopping centre following the incident, according to News.com.au. In addition, ABC television reported that some people were still trapped inside.
Two witnesses told Reuters they heard gunshots. One said: "Even 20 minutes after people rushed out of the mall, I saw special forces teams checking the surrounding streets."
Jason, a shopper who was evacuated from the mall, told Channel 9 News he saw the attacker with a “nice big blade.” “People started running towards the back of the building,” Jason continued. Jason said he then saw a police officer shoot the alleged attacker.
