Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan expressed the warm welcome that the Osaka Prefecture government gave to the working delegation.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan said that Japan is an important partner of Binh Dinh. Since 2012, the province has sought support from the Government and central ministries and branches to promote and introduce the image, potential advantages of Binh Dinh; proactively organized many investment promotion delegations in the Japanese market, creating a good impression on Japanese investors and enterprises. The province has also established and strengthened cooperative relations with the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai City, Yoshino Town... and many other localities of Japan, especially Osaka Prefecture.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan said that up to now, the province has attracted 19 projects from Japanese investors and enterprises (accounting for 22% of the province's total FDI projects), with a total registered investment capital of 94.17 million USD (including 10 industrial projects, investment capital of 72.30 million USD; 7 trade and service projects, investment capital of 1.03 million USD; 02 agricultural projects, investment capital of 20.84 million USD).
According to Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Japanese investment projects operate effectively, contributing to job creation and income improvement for people in Binh Dinh province. However, among the above enterprises, there are not many enterprises and investors from Osaka Prefecture, nor are there many commercial contracts between the two sides.
In 2022, Binh Dinh's export turnover to the Japanese market reached more than 176.7 million USD, accounting for 32% compared to goods exported to other Asian countries; in the first 4 months of 2023 alone, it reached 89.48 million USD, accounting for 45%.
Imports from Japan to Binh Dinh in 2022 reached more than 36.8 million USD, accounting for 11% of imports from other countries in Asia. In the first 4 months of 2023 alone, imported goods from Japan reached 20.13 million USD, accounting for 22% of imports to other Asian countries.
The province's main exports to Japan include: seafood, cassava and cassava products, minerals and construction materials, chemicals, plastic rattan furniture, wood of all kinds (wood chips, wood pellets, veneer, etc.), refined wood for interior and exterior decoration, garment products, footwear of all kinds, machinery, equipment and spare parts.

Talking to the delegation, Osaka Deputy Governor Yamaguchi Nobuhiko highly appreciated the cooperation between Binh Dinh province and Osaka over the past time. The Osaka government is always ready to create conditions for companies and enterprises of Binh Dinh province to participate in exchanges, discussions, and explore opportunities to establish and strengthen cooperation with Japanese business partners, especially those of Osaka Prefecture.
Mr. Yamaguchi Nobuhiko also said that in 2023, Japan and Vietnam will celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, and the relationship between the two countries, which is considered to have "limitless potential", is moving towards a period of remarkable development.
"We hope that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations will be an opportunity to look back at the Japan-Vietnam relationship up to now, and create a foundation for that relationship to develop even further towards the future, reaching out to the region and the world as partners of equal status and bringing mutual benefits," said Mr. Yamaguchi Nobuhiko.
On behalf of Osaka Prefecture, Mr. Yamaguchi Nobuhiko respectfully invites leaders of Binh Dinh province to attend events organized by Osaka Prefecture in June 2023.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed to regularly maintain high-level contacts between the two governments to effectively implement specific activities, promote investment and business cooperation, especially promoting the pillar areas that Binh Dinh province is aiming for, including: manufacturing and processing industry, tourism services, logistics and transportation, high-tech agriculture, urbanization; develop all areas with the principle of sustainable development as the top priority.

The Osaka Government also highly appreciates the strategic orientations of Binh Dinh province towards 2030, with a vision towards 2050; believing that this new strategy will bring Binh Dinh province into a period of remarkable development.
At the invitation of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan, Deputy Governor Yamaguchi Nobuhiko will join a business delegation from Osaka to attend the Investment Promotion Conference of Japanese Enterprises in Binh Dinh in July 2023.
This is the final activity of Binh Dinh province's working trip to Japan from May 31 to June 3. Through open and friendly meetings and exchanges, Binh Dinh province and Japanese localities and partners have reached a common voice in deepening cooperation, while opening up many new directions for cooperation in the future.
This is considered a positive signal after Binh Dinh province and other localities in Japan have been significantly affected by the Covid-19 epidemic and are on the path to recovery and development.
