Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung said that during US President Joe Biden's state visit to Vietnam, the two sides are expected to meet with technology businesses and sign many important economic agreements and contracts that could be worth billions of dollars.

Before the State visit to Vietnam by US President Joe Biden from September 10-11, at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong , speaking to the press, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung said that since the two countries normalized relations in 1995, incumbent US Presidents have visited Vietnam and President Joe Biden's upcoming visit to Vietnam continues this fine tradition.

Regarding the highlights of this visit, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung said that President Joe Biden will have important talks and meetings with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and senior leaders of our Party and State.

"This will open a new chapter in Vietnam-US relations, while creating more favorable objective conditions for Vietnam to gradually assert a higher position in the regional and global value chain," Mr. Dung shared.

3 major orientations in cooperation between Vietnam and the US

Firstly, the two sides will more clearly define cooperation priorities in related fields such as high technology, artificial intelligence, telecommunications networks, etc.

Second, the two sides are expected to launch a number of specific cooperation initiatives and mechanisms on semiconductors and high-tech human resource training.

Third, during the visit, agencies and businesses of both sides will sign a number of memorandums of understanding and agreements, creating a foundation to help promote Vietnam's stronger development in green economy, digital economy and high technology.

In particular, cooperation in overcoming the consequences of war is one of the bright spots. This is both the responsibility of the US side and an area that both sides are determined to accelerate further.

Another thing that Mr. Dung is very pleased with is the increasingly vibrant people-to-people exchange, especially educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries. 25,000 Vietnamese students are studying in the US. This year, Vietnam has risen to 5th place in the world and continues to affirm its leading position in ASEAN in the number of students studying in the US.

During President Joe Biden's visit, the two countries will also launch many initiatives on human resource training and grant scholarships to Vietnamese students to study in the US.

"History has also proven that when the Vietnam-US relationship develops positively and stably, it will not only serve the practical interests of the people of the two countries, but also be in line with the trend of peace, cooperation and development, contributing positively to the development of the US-ASEAN relationship, as well as maintaining stability and common prosperity in the entire region and the world," Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung affirmed.
