According to initial information, at around 10:00 a.m. on September 16, Thong Nhat Ward People's Committee received a report from the Ward Health Station about suspected food poisoning in class 7/1 of Ton Duc Thang Secondary School.
Earlier that morning, the Parents' Association of class 7/1 organized a party for students on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, with milk tea purchased from CBSG Milk Tea and Sweet Soup Shop on Phung Hung Street.
At around 9:30 a.m., some students began to experience symptoms of stomachache, nausea, and dizziness. The school's Board of Directors immediately contacted the Ward Health Station for inspection, verification, and support.
Through initial examination, out of 34 students who drank milk tea, 21 showed symptoms such as stomachache, dizziness, vomiting; the remaining 13 showed no symptoms.
Of the 21 affected students, 17 were taken home by their parents for monitoring; 4 were taken to the Ward Health Station for examination. After that, 1 case was transferred to Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hospital, 2 cases were sent home, and 1 student remained at the Health Station for further monitoring and later returned home.
Immediately after receiving the information, the People's Committee of Thong Nhat Ward conducted an inspection at Ton Duc Thang Secondary School and the Ward Health Station, and directed the Health Station to report to the Pleiku City Health Center for coordination in handling.
Authorities have taken food samples to determine the cause and are closely monitoring the health of the students.
As of 2:10 p.m. the same day, according to the report of the Board of Directors of Ton Duc Thang Secondary School and the Ward Health Station, the health status of the students has basically stabilized. Currently, only 1 student is being treated at Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hospital with symptoms of abdominal pain and mild fever.
Authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident.
