Many activities attract tourists at the Southern Traditional Cake Festival in 2025

From April 4, the Southern Traditional Cake Festival 2025 with the theme "Preserving and promoting the value of Southern traditional cakes" officially took place at Binh Thuy District Square, Can Tho City, with many exciting activities, attracting a large number of tourists to visit and experience.

One of the activities that many tourists love is the space for demonstrations and instructions on making traditional cakes. Ms. Phan Thi Lan Trinh (third from left) - the person in charge of instructing how to make banh it - said that coming to this festival is a way to keep the family's traditional craft alive, through which she also wants to share with young people and tourists about the traditional values of their ancestors, especially traditional folk cakes.

The stalls all publicly list prices so visitors can feel secure buying cakes.

At the festival space, visitors will see and experience the diverse ways of making cakes of the Southern people. Tran Huu Nghi (left), a student of Binh Thuy High School, loves the experience of making traditional cakes, sharing: “These are very interesting activities for me, when I am guided to make all kinds of cakes. When I do it, I realize it is not simple and I admire our ancestors even more for being able to think of so many ways to make cakes like that.”

Thuan Hung rice paper village, Thot Not district, has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, becoming the pride of every local resident. Having come to the festival many times, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Tuan (61 years old, right) said: “It’s so much fun, coming to the festival is to introduce the specialties of my hometown, my family’s traditional rice paper craft. I will show anyone who wants to make and roll rice paper. Like these children, if they learn from me, it’s great.”

There are hundreds of types of cakes from traditional to modern, in all colors, visitors can enjoy on the spot or buy as gifts.

There are also many unique cakes here, such as Khmer An Giang 's ka tum cake.

At the festival, visitors can try many delicious dishes from different regions, including many lost traditional cakes such as Soc Trang's Bau cake. Artisan Huynh Ngoc Lan said: "In addition to introducing Bau cake, I also introduce new types of cakes such as taro cake and corn cake. I use agricultural products with the traditional way of making these cakes, so the flavor is very unique."
