Many precious images and artifacts about 80 years of the Vietnam People's Army

From December 11-30, 2024, the Provincial Military Command coordinated with the Military Region 3 Museum and Quang Ninh Museum to organize a thematic exhibition "80 years of the heroic Vietnam People's Army", on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day on December 22 (1989-2024).

The new point is that this exhibition is held alternately in Dong Trieu City and Quang Ninh Museum (Ha Long City). In Dong Trieu City, the exhibition opens on December 11 at the City's Cultural and Sports Center. In Ha Long City, the exhibition takes place at Quang Ninh Museum starting from December 17. Notably, the exhibition has been brought to Dong Trieu City, where 89 years ago, the Dong Trieu guerrilla force was organized into a concentrated guerrilla team. On June 8, 1945, at Ho Lao communal house, the Insurgent Command announced the establishment of Tran Hung Dao War Zone - one of the four war zones in the country at that time.

The exhibition includes two main contents: Part 1 is "Vietnam People's Army - 80 years of building, fighting and growing up", reflecting the milestones of the achievements of the Vietnam People's Army, the armed forces of Military Region 3, and the Vietnam People's Navy. Part 2 is "Continuing the heroic tradition, building a comprehensive, exemplary, and representative armed force of Quang Ninh province", reflecting the milestones of the achievements of the armed forces of Quang Ninh province. With more than 250 photos, documentary films, and 80 valuable artifacts, providing information about the meaning of the Founding Day of the Vietnam People's Army, about the position, role, and importance of national defense work.

At the exhibition, the public can see many valuable photos throughout the history of the construction and growth of the Vietnam People's Army, such as: Images of Red Self-Defense soldiers in the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement in 1930-1931, the National Salvation Army platoon established in 1941, the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army in 1944, the Ba To Guerrilla Team, the August Revolution, the suicide bombers in 1946, the convoy carrying food and weapons in the 1953-1954 Winter-Spring campaign, our troops pulling artillery into Dien Bien Phu, our people welcoming troops back to take over the capital, our navy's torpedo boats attacking the Maddox ship, the anti-aircraft battalion shooting down an American plane, troops marching across Truong Son to the front line, the air force taking off to protect the sky, Hanoi Self-Defense forces fighting side by side with anti-aircraft troops to protect Hanoi, tanks advancing to attack the Independence Palace, marching to protect the northern border...

Along with that are many precious images of the armed forces of Quang Ninh such as: Ho Lao communal house relic, Bac Ma pagoda where the Fourth War Zone was born, photos of Ky Con Platoon, paintings of the Fourth War Zone insurgents, photos of Tam Hop temple in Cam Pha where the insurgents entered to seize revolutionary power, the communication station of the Hon Gai Special Zone Committee, Hai Ninh province guerrillas planting spikes to fight the enemy, our troops preparing to attack Tan Mai post, the convoy of troops crossing the demilitarized zone to take over Hon Gai, the last French soldier withdrawing from the Mining Area, the heroic feat on Cua Luc River in 1964, the establishment of the Coal Corps, the 37mm artillery company of the Hon Gai wharf self-defense force...

Besides the images, there are many artifacts that are displayed for the first time to serve the public in Quang Ninh such as: Brown shirts sewn by mothers to give to soldiers of Regiment 42, letters of determination written in blood by young men of Military Region 3 asking to join the army, command flags of Captain Dang Ba Hat, telephones used by Quang Ninh military agencies to command the capture of agents invading Ha Coi sea area, some American mines neutralized by Military Region 3 engineers, some hoes and shovels used by soldiers for irrigation, etc.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Hong Tien, Director of the Third Military Region Museum, shared: The Third Military Region Museum is honored to coordinate with the Quang Ninh Museum and the Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command to organize this exhibition. The exhibition is a practical activity to promote and educate officers, soldiers and people to better understand the heroic history and traditions of the Vietnam People's Army, the Third Military Region armed forces as well as the army and people of Quang Ninh province. After this exhibition, in 2025, there will be many important events of the Party, the State, the Army and the Third Military Region. We will continue to coordinate to promote the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Many images and war artifacts attract the attention of young soldiers.

The exhibition once again affirms the role and responsibility of the entire Party, people and army in the task of building a strong national defense, a solid people's war posture; building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modern army to meet the requirements of building and defending the Fatherland.

Mr. Do Quyet Tien, Director of Quang Ninh Museum, said: The exhibition provides the public with a deeper understanding of the Vietnam People's Army in general and the armed forces of Quang Ninh province in particular, thereby arousing pride, admiration for the glorious journeys and feats that our Army has achieved in the fight against foreign invaders in the 20th century.
