The source said relevant parties from both Japan and ASEAN, including non-governmental organizations, will sign the agreement in Tokyo this week ahead of a summit in December in the Japanese capital Tokyo to celebrate 50 years of bilateral friendship and cooperation.
The agreement, which will contribute to strengthening cybersecurity cooperation between Japan and ASEAN member states, will be included in the joint statement at the December summit.
The Government of Japan has been supporting the professional development of ASEAN member states' governments through training programs at the ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Capacity Building Center in Bangkok, Thailand, hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan.
In recent years, cyber attacks against private companies and organizations have attracted global attention, with China suspected of being involved in some cases.
