A US Secret Service agent is accused of taking his mistress to former President Barack Obama's home in Hawaii while the former leader was away.
In her memoir, Koryeah Dwanyen, the former lover of the aforementioned US Secret Service agent, recounted her lover’s security lapses. Dwanyen said that her boyfriend once took her to Obama’s beach house in Hawaii in 2022 while the former president was away, according to ABC News on November 13.
Ms. Dwanyen said her boyfriend had sent her pictures of the house in advance and promised to show her around. "Nobody knows. If anything happens, you're the one in trouble," the Secret Service agent nicknamed "Dale" said, according to Ms. Dwanyen's memoir.
Dwanyen said the lover also tried to lure her into Michelle’s bathroom to engage in adult acts. The Secret Service agent also told Dwanyen many things that should not have been revealed, such as the person’s code name and the Obama family’s schedule. Dwanyen wrote that the lover initially said he had been divorced for many years but was still married.
Ms. Dwanyen then decided to report everything to her lover's superiors. The violations by the senior Secret Service agent led to an internal investigation and his dismissal.
Secret Service communications director Anthony Guglielmi said the agency's priority is ensuring the safety and security of VIPs, and stressed that any violation of this commitment will be taken seriously.
Mr. Guglielmi confirmed an incident that matched the account in Ms. Dwanyen’s memoir and said the employee involved was fired after a full investigation. He said the incident occurred on November 6, 2022, when a Secret Service agent brought a non-cleared person into the home of a protected person without permission.
“Although the protected person was not present at the time, these actions were an unacceptable violation of our rules, the protected person’s trust and everything we stand for,” Mr. Guglielmi said.
The memoir, published on October 28, further tarnished the reputation of the Secret Service after Donald Trump was shot during a July campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The assassination was described as a historic security failure by the Secret Service and led to the resignation of its director.
