Replicating advanced typical cooperatives

Agricultural production materials store of Chung Nghia General Production and Trade Service Cooperative (Ha Trung).

Although it is a traditional agricultural cooperative, since its transformation under the 2012 Law on Cooperatives, Dinh Lien Agricultural Service Cooperative, Dinh Lien Commune (Yen Dinh) has become a strong unit. Not only does it perform well in public services, but it has also built an effective production and business plan, achieving a revenue of more than 5 billion VND/year, truly a "midwife" for local farmers.

Mr. Luu Tai Sang, Director of Dinh Lien Agricultural Service Cooperative, said: "Dinh Lien is a locality with a tradition of rice production. To perform well the assigned functions and tasks and promote this strength, the cooperative must have strong innovation and creativity. After implementing the model conversion according to the 2012 Law on Cooperatives, the cooperative has developed 10 types of services serving the agricultural production sector. In which all stages are tightly organized with the connection of production households, through commitments in service contracts". Thanks to the concentration of management resources and effective operation, the cooperative has performed well in a number of services, such as: seeding trays and transplanters, supplying production materials and transferring production science and technology... contributing to creating "golden seasons" for local people and some neighboring localities.

It is known that every year, in addition to providing good public services, Dinh Lien Agricultural Service Cooperative also supplies about 68 tons of rice seeds, 120 tons of fertilizers, and more than 70% of pesticides for the local production area. At the same time, it applies synchronous mechanization to more than 60 hectares of rice, supplies about 56 hectares of tray seedlings to people, bringing in revenue of more than 5 billion VND, profit of nearly 600 million VND/year. With these efforts, the Cooperative has been honored as one of the 55 typical agricultural cooperatives nationwide, receiving the Cooperative Star Award in 2025.

In the field of trade and services, Chung Nghia General Production and Trade Service Cooperative (Ha Trung) is also one of the advanced models. Established in 2002, the Cooperative has proactively rented land to build a farm and a commercial cluster, built 2,000m2 of counters to sell agricultural production materials to serve people in the area and neighboring communes. In addition, the Cooperative also built and put into operation a gas station to create more jobs, increase income for members and improve business efficiency.

Currently, the revenue of Chung Nghia General Production and Trade Service Cooperative reaches about 50 billion VND/year. In addition to improving technology, production lines, investing in infrastructure and expanding scale, the Cooperative also focuses on ensuring the rights and improving the quality of life for members, which is always a top priority. The clearest evidence is that the Cooperative has lent members capital for production, purchasing means of transport and building solid houses...

According to statistics from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Cooperative Union, the province currently has 1,364 cooperatives. In every field, there are cooperatives with outstanding activities, making many contributions to the local socio-economic development. Therefore, in order to promote the spirit of building and developing advanced typical cooperative models, from the beginning of the year, the Provincial Cooperative Union has deployed emulation registration to all member units. Thanks to that, every year, many cooperatives will receive honorary titles from the Central and the province for their high achievements in collective economic activities. Typically, in 2024, Thanh Hoa province had 48 cooperatives registering for emulation movements; of which, 2 cooperatives were honored and awarded the Cooperative Star Award in 2024 "CoopStar Awards 2024" and 1 People's Credit Fund received a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Cooperative Union; 2 products of 2 cooperatives were honored and awarded the Mai An Tiem Award (Binh Son Agricultural and Forestry Service Cooperative and Tan Tho Handicraft Cooperative)... In addition, dozens of cooperatives received certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union for their outstanding achievements in building and developing the collective economy.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union Le Hong Hai said: "For many years, the Provincial Cooperative Union has had a plan to support the construction of advanced typical cooperative models. Accordingly, cooperatives selected as advanced typical ones must meet a number of requirements, such as: Organizing production and business effectively, constantly developing, boldly applying scientific and technical advances; performing well in accounting and statistics according to regulations; revenue and profit of the following year are higher than the previous year, having working regulations... In particular, cooperatives must comply with the operation of the 2012 Cooperative Law...

To implement the work of building advanced typical cooperatives and replicating this model, the Provincial Cooperative Union is conducting many working sessions with localities and each cooperative to strengthen consulting work, guide cooperatives to operate in compliance with the principles of organization and operation according to the Law on Cooperatives 2012, Law on Cooperatives 2023; organize training and professional development for cooperative staff; create favorable conditions for cooperatives to operate effectively, build prestige in the market. At the same time, mobilize resources to support capital for cooperatives to invest in production, expand production and business, create jobs, increase income and improve the lives of members.
