Pre-match review
This is not the first time that Vietnamese teams have faced the UAE in continental tournaments. History has witnessed victories for Vietnamese football against UAE representatives, typically the 2-0 victory in the group stage of the 2007 Asian Cup, helping the Vietnamese team reach the quarter-finals of the Asian tournament for the first time.
Then, under the guidance of coach Park Hang-seo, the Vietnamese team had an important 1-0 victory over the UAE in the second qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia. This proves that, although the UAE is rated higher in terms of physique, fitness and speed, the Vietnamese team can completely overcome them, at any level, if they play properly.
At the 2025 AFC U17 Championship, despite being in a difficult group with many strong opponents, Vietnam U17 still demonstrated resilience, high determination and reasonable tactics.
In two draws against strong opponents U17 Australia (1-1) and U17 Japan (1-1), coach Cristiano Roland's team showed a very disciplined counter-attacking style of play, along with the solidity of goalkeeper Xuan Tin in goal.
Tight organization in defense and the ability to take advantage of opportunities will be the strengths for U17 Vietnam to cause difficulties in the "survival" battle with U17 UAE. The most important thing is that the players must maintain their spirit and remain calm, avoiding falling into a disadvantageous chasing position.
Form, head-to-head history
This is the first time the two teams have met in the history of the U17 Asian Cup. In the last 5 matches, U17 Vietnam won 2 and drew 3, scoring 5 goals and conceding 3 goals. The figures for U17 UAE are 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses, scoring 6 goals and conceding 7 goals.
After a heavy 1-4 loss to U17 Japan in the opening match, U17 UAE significantly improved their skills and fighting spirit to defeat U17 Australia 2-0.
Currently, U17 UAE (3 points) is ranked second in Group B, ahead of U17 Vietnam (2 points) in 3rd place. In theory, they will have less pressure as they only need a draw to advance, because in the remaining match, U17 Australia has almost no chance against U17 Japan.
Force situation
U17 Vietnam has no notable changes.
Meanwhile, UAE U17 lost midfielder Ali Hassan due to suspension.
U17 Vietnam: Xuan Tin, Duy Khang, Van Khanh, Nguyen Luc, Viet Long, Hong Phong, Tan Dung, Hong Quang, Viet Anh, Duc Duy, Gia Bao.
U17 UAE: Mohammed Nasser, Salem Esam, Ibrahim Yusuf, Fahad Khalil, Suhail Al Noub, Obaid Omran, Abdulla Rashed, Mohamed Gamal, Mohamed Ahmad, Mohamed Buti, Mayed Adel Khamis.
