Prediction before the match MU vs Man City
This could be considered a season to forget for both clubs. MU is going through the worst crisis in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era and is sinking in the bottom half of the rankings. If nothing unexpected happens, they will finish the season with the lowest position since the Premier League was born in 1992.
Meanwhile, Man City have also failed by their own standards. Pep Guardiola's side failed to defend their title and are now in danger of missing out on next season's Champions League. They were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup and Champions League early. They need to finish the season strongly before embarking on a major overhaul next summer.
Amad Diallo scored a last-minute winner to help United come from behind to beat Man City at the Etihad in the first leg, giving coach Ruben Amorim his first major win. That result came just 40 days after Amorim led his former club Sporting CP to a 4-1 thrashing of City in the Champions League. The Portuguese coach could replicate the feat of Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel (beating Pep Guardiola in three consecutive games) if United win tonight.
The problem was that the incredible win at the Etihad did not help United and Amorim make the breakthrough they had hoped for. They continued to falter after that, and things became more difficult for the Red Devils when Amad Diallo suffered a serious injury, and Marcus Rashford and Antony both left on loan until the end of the season.
Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest was their 13th in the Premier League this season, leaving them just one loss short of their worst record in the Premier League era (set last season).
From Ten Hag to Amorim, United have struggled to start games. In the entire league, only Leicester City (26 games) have conceded more goals than United (23 games). Amorim's patchwork defence and three centre-back system meant the Red Devils rarely kept clean sheets.

A weak attack is also the reason for United's disappointment. The Red Devils have scored just 37 goals from 405 shots - a conversion rate of 9.1%, the third worst in the league behind Southampton (7.9%) and West Ham United (8.6%). Their big chance conversion rate of 29% is the second worst, bettered only by bottom-placed Southampton (28%).
Meanwhile, Man City consolidated their place in the top five with a comfortable 2-0 win over Leicester City on Wednesday, with goals from Jack Grealish and Omar Marmoush. Champions League qualification would be a relief for a poor campaign for City. Man City have scored an average of 1.9 goals per game in the Premier League since the start of the season, their lowest average per game under Guardiola. They have also conceded 1.33 goals per game, their highest average under the Spaniard. Man City need to improve these issues immediately if they are to avoid a difficult end to the season.
Head-to-head history, form MU vs Man City
Man City have won more away games against Man Utd in the Premier League than any other team (9). Five of those have come under Guardiola, the most in the competition's history.
