Musician Chu Minh's real name is Trieu Dat Hien, born in 1931 in Hanoi. He was one of 10 people sent by the State to study short-term intermediate music classes in Wuhan (China), and studied composition at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing (China).
He was also one of the founders of the Central People's Art Troupe (now the Vietnam National Music and Dance Theater) and was assigned the position of Head of the Department of Theory - Composition - Conducting of the Vietnam Music School (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music).
Musician Chu Minh has been successful in both composing and teaching. His most prominent works are musical compositions. His name is associated with works about the revolution, the Party and Uncle Ho. Some of his songs include "We are proud to go up, oh Vietnam", "Loi ca mo tuyen", "Duong Truong Son chien cong chien cong", "Nuoc son ten nguoi"...
Along with composing, musician Chu Minh also made great contributions in training many generations of Vietnamese musicians. Many of his students have become prominent figures in the country's music industry, such as musicians Pho Duc Phuong, Truong Ngoc Ninh, Ton That Lap, Duc Trinh, Do Bao... Musician Chu Minh was awarded the State Prize in 2001, the Third Class Anti-French Resistance Medal, the Second Class Anti-American Resistance Medal, the Second Class Labor Medal, and many other awards.
