- NGUYEN VIET HUNG: I composed this song out of my deep love for Ho Chi Minh City - a city filled with memories, attachment and pride in the country's development. That was the biggest inspiration for me to complete the song. Thank you to the song composition campaign with the theme "The Country is Full of Joy" for giving me the opportunity to express my love for the city and the country, thereby demonstrating the sharp will of the army and people in the cause of protecting the sovereignty of the Fatherland and building the country with the same spirit as the chant of pulling cannons into battle.

What significance does this song have in your writing and performing career? Why did you choose this genre of music to compose?

- This is a special work because it not only reflects my feelings for Ho Chi Minh City and the country, but it is also an opportunity for me to bring music to everyone. I chose the rap genre because it best suits the energy and emotions I want to convey, as well as the taste of young audiences. The song is a heroic message from today's young generation to always remember the efforts of previous generations who have devoted a lot of effort to building a rich and powerful country.

.What advantages did you encounter when composing this song? In your opinion, is it difficult to write a song with a theme, especially one about Ho Chi Minh City?

- My biggest advantage is that my family has a military tradition. The patriotism and resilience that I was inspired by my family became a great source of motivation for me to write this song. At the same time, I have lived and experienced life in Ho Chi Minh City firsthand. Stories about this affectionate city with a rich revolutionary tradition also remind me of the values that I always cherish.

However, writing a theme song is still a challenge because you have to balance between personal feelings and audience expectations, especially when writing about a place with a rich history and culture like Ho Chi Minh City. Through this song, I received encouragement from my family and friends to be more confident in overcoming the pressure and challenges to write a theme song.

What is the most unforgettable memory for you when thinking about Ho Chi Minh City?

- I remember the image of veterans chatting under the trees in the park near where I live. They are living proof of history and the sacrifices of previous generations. I felt like I was seeing the image of my grandfather and I was inspired to write this song.

Have you ever performed songs about Ho Chi Minh City? If so, which song do you like best? Why?

- I have performed a number of songs about Ho Chi Minh City, of which my favorite is "Sai Gon is so beautiful" by musician Y Van. The song has a gentle, memorable melody and also expresses the beauty and vitality of the city.

To promote songs written about Ho Chi Minh City, what do you suggest to the organizers?

- I propose to organize music performances to raise funds to support the meaningful component of the Lao Dong Newspaper, which is "Mai Vang Tri An" at some locations that attract a large number of people interested in the event or public spaces. This will be an opportunity to introduce the award-winning songs to the public, at the same time spreading the spirit of solidarity and sharing by joining hands to support artists and people with merit in the fields of science, health, and education who have contributed a lot to society.

What do you expect from the songwriting campaign "A Country Full of Joy"?

- I always hope that the campaign will attract many quality works, contributing to enriching the treasure of Vietnamese music. In addition, I hope that the works after the contest will be widely disseminated, become a common voice, encourage the spirit of solidarity, love for Ho Chi Minh City in particular and patriotism of everyone in general.

The songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" was organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). The Organizing Committee received 160 songs from 122 authors.

The final round will take place in February 2025 and the award ceremony of the campaign is scheduled to take place in April 2025. The Organizing Committee has posted the works on the newspaper's social media platforms to introduce them to the community and promote them.

Currently, many songs are leading the list of most viewed songs. Of which, the two songs currently leading the chart are "City of Faith and Aspiration" (musician Nguyen Thien Tue) and "From Ho Chi Minh City Looking Back at History" (musician, rapper Hoang Trung Anh, Huy Truong).
