On January 10, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Education Publishing House (VEP) held a ceremony to present Vietnamese books to Vietnamese people in Northeastern Thailand through the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Ken, Kingdom of Thailand.
Attending the book donation ceremony for Vietnamese people in Northeast Thailand were Mr. Nguyen Manh Dong - Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SCVV), Mr. Dinh Hoang Linh - Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Ken, Kingdom of Thailand, Mr. Dang Thanh Phuong - Deputy Head of the Foreign Affairs and Overseas Vietnamese Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Education and Training; On the side of the Vietnam Education Publishing House (NXBGDVN), there were Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh - Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director, Mr. Ha Sy Chuan - Chief of Office, Mr. Vu Quang Thai - Deputy General Director of Hanoi Education Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, Mr. Nguyen Phong Yen - Deputy General Director of Phuong Nam Education Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, Mr. Pham Van Thang - Director of Fine Arts and Communications Joint Stock Company and representatives of leaders of specialized departments and offices.
Speaking at the book donation ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh - Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Vietnam Education Publishing House said: "The donation of Vietnamese books is not only important in developing a reading culture and improving the ability to use Vietnamese in the Vietnamese community abroad, Vietnamese books also contribute to arousing national pride, promoting cultural exchange activities, and promoting the image of Vietnam internationally".
During nearly 70 years of establishment and development, NXBGDVN has always focused on and maintained community-based programs to bring practical benefits to society. NXBGDVN's products have been associated with many generations of students; overcoming many difficulties and hardships to become a companion of students, teachers and readers in all regions of the country.
Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh said that there are currently more than 100,000 overseas Vietnamese living in 20 provinces in the Northeast of Thailand. The Vietnamese books from the Vietnam Education Publishing House will be an extremely valuable gift in preserving the national language and culture.
Mr. Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized: "Over the past years, the Vietnam Education Publishing House has made many positive contributions in supporting Vietnamese books for the overseas Vietnamese community as well as actively participating in the implementation of the Project "Day to honor Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community in the period of 2023-2030" through coordination with Vietnamese representative agencies abroad and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs to donate "Vietnamese Bookcases" to many overseas Vietnamese communities around the world, contributing to building a cultural space for learning and reading Vietnamese in the overseas Vietnamese community, effectively contributing to encouraging and motivating people far from the Fatherland to learn and use Vietnamese, vividly demonstrating the heart for the overseas Vietnamese community".
At the book donation ceremony, the leaders of the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Ken, Thailand, discussed that in addition to building Vietnamese bookcases, they would also expand cooperation in organizing Vietnamese language teaching training courses... in the area to improve the preservation and development of Vietnamese language and culture for overseas Vietnamese in 20 northeastern provinces of Thailand.
Previously, since 2022, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnam Education Publishing House have planned to build a "Vietnamese Bookshelf" for the Vietnamese community in many countries and territories. In 2023, the Vietnamese Bookshelf was presented to the Vietnamese community in many countries and territories such as Fukuoka (Japan), Budapest (Hungary), Taiwan (China), Paris (France), Prague and Brno (Czech Republic). In 2024, the "Vietnamese Bookshelf" initiative was awarded the Second Prize in the category of valuable foreign information product initiatives at the 10th National Foreign Information Awards Ceremony.
