The school prohibits students from using cell phones even during recess.

Thanh Loc High School (District 12) is banning students from using cell phones at school, even during recess. However, the school does not prohibit students from bringing cell phones to school.

Mr. Luong Van Dinh - Principal of Thanh Loc High School said that this regulation was issued by the school after receiving the consent of the school's parents.

The new regulation will prohibit students from using phones at school, including during breaks. They can only use their phones during a certain class period if the teacher agrees to let them use their phones for studying.

"Social networks, technology,... are now very developed, greatly affecting students. In the past, during recess, students rarely played together but only focused on their phones. In particular, there was a situation where students went on social networks to text each other and badmouth each other, leading to many consequences. For example, last school year, the school dealt with several fights that originated from conflicts on social networks," Mr. Dinh cited.

According to Mr. Dinh, after this regulation was applied, there were positive signs, students gradually got used to not using phones at school, recess and the school yard also became more bustling than before.

"The school has also installed additional landline phones and provided phone numbers for parents. In case parents need to contact their children, they can call to meet them and vice versa, students can use this landline phone to contact their parents when needed," added the Principal of Thanh Loc High School.

The regulation prohibiting students from using cell phones in school is also applied at Truong Chinh High School (District 12).

Mr. Trinh Duy Trong - Principal of Truong Chinh High School said that the school has an inner yard and a front yard. Students are allowed to use their phones in the front yard, which is the parking area after school. Once they enter the inner yard, they are not allowed to use their phones, except during class periods when the teacher requires it.

According to Mr. Trong, since implementing the above regulation, students no longer have to look at their phones during recess. Instead, the school yard is more crowded with students, and they play a lot of sports.
