The most important thing for international stars to design for is... being tough. Cong Tri is constantly mentioned in many notable entertainment events around the world as a designer chosen by top stars. In 2018, during the Witness world tour, Katy Perry chose to wear 4 designs by Cong Tri to perform. After the tour, Katy Perry continued to collaborate and wore Cong Tri's clothes many times at important events. In 2019, Beyonce appeared gorgeous in a dress designed by Cong Tri on the red carpet of the blockbuster "The Lion King".Katy Perry wears Cong Tri's design in the show. Photo: Cong Tri's Facebook

Participating in international fashion weeks, Cong Tri has increasingly conquered international stars, even artists who are known for being picky and difficult to choose clothes for, such as Adele, Miley Cyrus...
In 2021, when Rosé (BlackPink group) released her first solo MV "On The Ground", she chose a design by Cong Tri. The dress was praised for helping Rosé shine, showing off her slim figure, white skin and youthful, radiant beauty.
The design Rosé chose to wear in the MV On The Ground is a design from the CONG TRI Spring Summer 2020 collection presented at New York Fashion Week.
Accordingly, Cong Tri and Rosé's team spent more than 2 months discussing back and forth to create the collaboration with the sparkling light-catching dress. After this collaboration, Vietnamese fashion lovers were even more excited when Lisa (Blackpink) also chose Cong Tri's design to attend the event.

Talking to Lao Dong reporter about the journey of collaborating with international artists, designer Cong Tri shared: “When I accepted to do Katy Perry’s big show, I had to design a lot of drawings, even sign a confidentiality contract, send them drawings and fabric samples to choose from, and take pictures of everything to make them feel secure.
We are in two different geographical locations, and our working hours do not match. At first, our team had a lot of difficulties because we were not used to it. We had to work late at night to exchange information. Besides, when making costumes for international stars, I had to make 2-3 sets from the same design to prevent the costumes from being damaged."
The biggest profit is not money
According to designer Cong Tri, at first there were many surprises and difficulties when approaching international stars, but now his team can work smoothly and professionally, taking measurements from a distance, ensuring that when worn, the clothes will fit perfectly.
When asked about Blackpink choosing to wear his clothes, Cong Tri shared: “At first, BlackPink wore one of the designs I had made, their stylist chose it, not my own design. When an international artist chose to wear it, and then many other stars, I was very “excited”. I was happy and worked harder. I realized that if I just work hard, stumble continuously, when the outfit is not beautiful, I do it again... Just like that, I will get results”.

“When designing costumes for Vietnamese artists, I can be sure that they will wear them, but with international stars, I am not sure. When I finish making an outfit for an international star, I cannot make any changes, and I do not know when they will wear it. I also cannot give my opinion if they do not wear it. But the good thing is that I am not discouraged, I just keep working until I get it right. My “slogan” is to be persistent, to work tirelessly,” said designer Cong Tri.
Talking about the interesting memories he had while working with international stars, Cong Tri said: “For example, when making clothes for Adele, we had to tighten her waist, but still let her breathe and sing. The material inside and the design structure had to ensure that when Adele moved, the dress would still maintain its beautiful shape and not wobble.
Adele often takes off her shoes when she sings, and the dress I designed for Adele had to be able to ensure that when she took off her shoes, the dress would still look beautiful. That tested my skills and I was happy to do it. When she did it, Adele ordered a second dress.”
Asked “You must have made a lot of money designing clothes for international stars?”, Cong Tri replied: “Honestly, I don’t make much because this is a mutually beneficial combination and the one who benefits the most is me. International stars wear many clothes from designers around the world. To be honest, many designers have to pay stars to wear them. Personally, I am privileged to not have to pay for that.”
