The contractor proactively divided the project into sections and carried out construction during the flood season for the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway section passing through An Giang province.

Regarding package number 42, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Nhang, Deputy Director of the Truong Son 11 Project Management Board, Truong Son Construction Corporation, stated that the section of the expressway passing through An Giang province is nearly 14km long. Of that, approximately 4km is located in a flood-prone area.

To proactively respond, the contractor organized workers to carry out construction work in these areas before the floodwaters inundated the fields.

Currently, the abutments for five bridges under the contract have been completed, and girder installation is underway. The bridge decks are expected to be largely completed by mid-December. Many other components of these bridges are also targeted for completion this year.

Contractors are accelerating construction progress on the Western Vietnam cross-region expressway.

For road sections located in flood-prone areas, the contractor is proactively carrying out construction even during the flood season, and workers are currently installing drainage wicks.

"The construction site receives 2,000 cubic meters of sand per day, concentrating it in key areas and those at risk of flooding for prioritizing construction. The purpose is to ensure that construction is not affected when floods inundate the fields."

"These locations have basically recovered from the floods, and workers are working continuously to speed up the progress," Lieutenant Colonel Nhang said.

Bring in more workers to the construction site in October.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nhàng, the construction progress currently stands at over 25%, exceeding the plan by 0.5%. The contractor demonstrated great determination to achieve this result.

"We've organized the workers into two shifts, from 7 am to 11 pm, adding four hours to their normal working hours. We expect the contractor to add 60 more workers to the construction site in October," Mr. Nhàng said.

On the construction site, the contractor is having workers drill bored piles, construct soil-cement piles, build abutments, cast beams, and install drainage wicks.

The company deployed 100 workers along with 22 machines and pieces of equipment. The workers were organized into 3 shifts with 6 construction teams, working from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM each day.
