(Dan Tri) - Embraer Group is the world's third largest commercial aircraft manufacturer after Airbus and Boeing. The group's leaders wish to cooperate with Vietnam in both civil aviation and defense trade.
On the morning of November 17 local time (evening of the same day Vietnam time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Jose Serrador, Global Vice President of Embraer Group, during his working trip to attend the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Embraer is a multi-industry corporation, operating mainly in the fields of aviation and aerospace industry. It is also the world's third largest commercial aircraft manufacturer (after Airbus and Boeing), with three main product groups: narrow-body aircraft (E175, E190); military aircraft (C-390, R-99); personal/special aircraft. To date, Embraer has produced more than 8,000 aircraft (output of about 150 aircraft/year), with more than 19,000 employees worldwide. In 2023, the Group's revenue reached more than 5.3 billion USD, an increase of 11% over the same period. Bamboo Airways has operated 5 Embraer aircraft in Vietnam (2020-2023). Currently, Embraer is continuing to discuss with domestic partners (such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet) to expand cooperation with Vietnam, after an official meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Group's Chairman and CEO in September 2023. Recalling his impression when visiting Embraer's facility last year, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized his desire to promote the cooperative relationship between the Group and Vietnam in the coming time. Embraer's leadership said that the Group has identified one of the two main areas of cooperation with Vietnam as cooperation in the field of civil aviation. With the Brazilian Development Bank opening up capital for civil aviation development, Mr. Jose Serrador said that this is the foundation to bring cooperation between the Group and Vietnam to a new level. The direction proposed by the Embraer Group representative is to expand coverage on the flight route from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City because this is a very important route for Vietnam. He said that Embraer aircraft are also on the Hanoi - Con Dao route. Emphasizing the opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Brazil's Embraer and Vietnam, the Global Vice President of Embraer Group said that they will promote maintenance and training activities to improve Vietnam's capacity in the field of civil aviation. The Embraer representative also wishes to promote cooperation with Vietnam in the field of defense trade cooperation. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed with Embraer's cooperation proposal. With the direction of cooperation from small to large, the Prime Minister said that "if you go far, you will surely arrive, if you don't go close, you will not arrive". The Prime Minister also agreed to promote cooperation in both the fields of civil aviation and defense trade. According to the head of the Vietnamese Government, after his visit to Brazil last year, the relationship between Vietnam and Brazil has made many advances as two-way trade has increased, the two sides' markets complement each other better, and these are the foundations to promote the Group's cooperation with Vietnam. Another important orientation shared by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is that Vietnam wants to build an aviation hub for both passengers and cargo. Therefore, promoting aviation cooperation with major airlines such as Embraer is very necessary. In addition, the Prime Minister suggested that the Group develop an aircraft maintenance and warranty center in Vietnam and research to help Vietnam build a pilot training center... Stating that people's lives are increasingly improving, incomes are higher, the demand for travel combined with work is very large and the demand for human exchange is also increasing, the Prime Minister commented that aviation has the conditions to develop very quickly with the advantage of saving time. According to the leader of the Vietnamese Government, the potential for cooperation between the two sides is very large in consulting and developing aviation; building training centers; building aircraft maintenance and warranty centers; technology transfer... The Prime Minister suggested that Embraer continue to promote relations with Vietnamese corporations and come to Vietnam to explore cooperation opportunities, because aviation is an important bridge to promote relations between the two countries.
