In 2024, BSR faced a series of difficulties such as strong fluctuations in crude oil prices, narrowing crack spread profit margins, and the impact of the import tax policy on gasoline in the ASEAN region, which increased competition in the domestic market. In addition, BSR carried out the 5th general maintenance of Dung Quat Oil Refinery, which reduced production output compared to previous years. However, overcoming the challenges, BSR completed the production plan 43 days ahead of schedule and in 2024, BSR achieved over 6.6 million tons of various products.
One of the bright spots in the operation of Dung Quat Oil Refinery, most specifically in 2024, the energy consumption index (EII) dropped below 100% for the first time, reaching 99.7%, helping the unit save more than 10.1 million USD compared to 2023.
In the field of science and innovation, BSR promotes research and implementation of ESG (Environment - Society - Governance), increasing the output of high-value products such as DO oil, Jet-A1, PP, Mogas 95/92 gasoline. And in March 2025, BSR was granted ISCC CORSIA and ISCC EU certification by SGS Germany GmbH (headquartered in Germany) for blending, production, storage and trading of SAF products, opening up new opportunities for BSR in exporting petrochemical products to the European Union market, while ensuring that BSR meets regulations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Entering 2025, in the context of the world energy market continuing to be complicated with many unstable factors in prices, exchange rates, carbon credits and emission rights, BSR also had very impressive production and business results in the first quarter of 2025. Production output reached more than 1.8 million tons of products (12% higher than the plan), total revenue reached more than 32.2 trillion VND (14% higher than the plan), contributing to the State budget reached more than 3.38 trillion VND (6% higher than the plan). This is an important foundation for BSR to effectively deploy solutions in management and operation to successfully complete production and business tasks.
With a solid foundation after 100 million tons of products, along with breakthroughs in investment and science and technology activities, innovation and digital transformation, circular economic model and financial position, BSR is ready to enter a new growth phase, towards sustainable development and actively contributing to ensuring national energy security.
