Lego factory goes into operation: Achievements of "welcoming" green capital

Lego Group's most sustainable factory

The Lego factory in Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park III (VSIP III) is expected to create more than 4,000 jobs, especially providing opportunities for young workers to access modern skills and participate in the global value chain. The factory is expected to operate 100% on renewable energy by early 2026. In addition to installing 12,400 rooftop solar panels, the Lego Group also announced an important cooperation agreement with VSIP to build an energy center on the adjacent land. This energy center will integrate the first large-scale battery energy storage solution deployed in Vietnam and is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. The remaining renewable energy demand will be met through power purchase agreements (PPAs).

“Today marks an important milestone as we officially open our 6th factory globally. We are very grateful to the Government, ministries, sectors of Vietnam and Binh Duong province for their support and assistance to help the Lego Group quickly implement the construction of the factory on schedule. This is the “very correct choice” of the Lego Group,” said Mr. Niels B. Christiansen, CEO of the Lego Group.

Proactive achievements in welcoming green capital

In 2022, Lego Group decided to invest in Vietnam and VSIP III Industrial Park was chosen as the location to implement the project. The leaders of Binh Duong province, departments, branches and VSIP Industrial Park Joint Venture Company Limited identified this as a joy and an honor, but at the same time, it is also a great responsibility, because the amount of work to be done is very large while the time to complete the procedures on planning, land, construction, environment, fire prevention and fighting... is not much. However, thanks to the close and timely direction of the Government and the Prime Minister as well as the enthusiastic and responsible guidance and support of the central ministries, branches and branches, the project has been implemented on schedule by the locality in coordination with the investor.

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized that the Lego Factory project in VSIP III Industrial Park has become a symbol of sustainable cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark. With the mission of spreading creative inspiration and commitment to sustainable development, "inspiring children through the best quality bricks", Lego is sure to become a pioneering model for other industries in Vietnam, spreading the spirit of innovation and social responsibility, contributing to building a brighter future for future generations. On behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, congratulated the initial success of Lego Vietnam Co., Ltd. when officially holding the inauguration ceremony to put the second factory in Asia and the 6th factory of the Lego Group worldwide into operation. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Minh affirmed that with more than 30 years of experience in attracting foreign investment along with a smart and sustainable development strategy, plus the very methodical, scientific and advanced investment and production and business plan of the Lego Group, the leaders of Binh Duong province always believe that the production activities of the Lego Factory in VSIP III Industrial Park will take place with many advantages, be effective and continuously develop.

The Binh Duong Provincial Government is committed to always accompanying and creating the best conditions for the factory's production activities and the Lego Group's business goals in Vietnam to achieve the best results. Thereby, not only firmly affirming the Lego brand on a global scale but also contributing to consolidating, strengthening and deepening the already very good strategic partnership between the Governments and people of Vietnam and Denmark, especially in the fields of science - technology, innovation, green development and digital transformation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh highly appreciated the Lego Group's commitment to green, sustainable, and environmentally friendly development, with the goal of zero carbon emissions. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the presence of the Lego Factory is a testament to the attractiveness of Binh Duong province in attracting large manufacturing corporations in the world to invest. The Vietnamese Government will continue to accompany foreign investment enterprises in general, and Danish enterprises, including the Lego Group in particular, to continue to develop long-term and sustainably. Lego's success is also Vietnam's success.
