According to information from MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation, this unit has just officially announced the provision of 5G services. This is the third network operator to officially commercialize 5G telecommunications services in Vietnam.

In the first phase, MobiFone's 5G service will be concentrated in the centers of major provinces and cities. This network will expand its coverage area, aiming for nationwide coverage in the near future.

MobiFone deploys 5G network on 3,800-3,900 MHz frequency band. MobiFone 5G network is deployed simultaneously on both 5G NSA (non stand alone) and 5G SA (stand alone) architecture platforms, with speeds that can reach 1.5 Gbps, 10-15 times faster than 4G.

MobiFone representative said that individual users with MobiFone 4G SIM and 5G phone can immediately use the service in 5G coverage area without having to change SIM.

For business customers, MobiFone announced over 100 products to serve this group. MobiFone's 5G service for businesses covers 8 priority areas of national digital transformation, including: Industrial production, smart cities, energy, agriculture, healthcare, education, transportation and smart tourism.

In fact, recently, MobiFone has deployed solutions and services on the 5G technology platform at a number of agencies, units and businesses across the country. These include AI Camera solutions for smart tourism, smart transportation, 5G Private network solutions at Vicem Hoang Mai Cement Joint Stock Company....

5G mobile telecommunications services will be officially provided for the first time in Vietnam from the end of 2024. By the end of January 2025, Viettel had a total of 5.5 million 5G subscribers. VNPT announced that it has covered the central areas of 63 provinces and cities and many airports and industrial parks, with about 3 million users. MobiFone's official provision of 5G services will contribute to accelerating the commercialization of 5G in Vietnam.

In a recent directive, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh considered accelerating 5G commercialization as a key task and solution to boost economic growth, ensuring the country's growth target of 8% or more in 2025. In that context, mastering 5G technology will help Vietnam soon achieve its set goals.

With the potential of 5G technology, the National Assembly's Resolution on piloting a number of special policies and mechanisms to create breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation has allocated a portion of the State budget to support businesses in rapidly deploying 5G network infrastructure nationwide. By December 31, 2025, telecommunications businesses that rapidly deploy 5G network infrastructure, putting at least 20,000 transmission stations into use, will be supported with 15% of equipment costs.
