People's teacher deducts pension to give to disadvantaged students

(Dan Tri) - Teacher Huynh Duy Thuy, Vice President and General Secretary of Binh Dinh Mathematics Association, is the first person in Binh Dinh province to be awarded the title of People's Teacher by the State.

On November 19, Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee held the 16th Excellent Teacher title award ceremony and met with People's Teachers and Excellent Teachers in the province.

Through 16 conferments, up to now, Binh Dinh province's education sector has 1 People's Teacher and 25 Excellent Teachers.

Notably, for the first time, Binh Dinh province has a teacher awarded the title of People's Teacher. That teacher is teacher Huynh Duy Thuy (62 years old, in Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh), Vice President and General Secretary of Binh Dinh Mathematics Association.

With nearly 40 years of working in the education sector, teacher Huynh Duy Thuy has 45 scientific topics, many of which have been confirmed to have influence and applicability nationwide.

In addition, he also received 5 creative labor certificates from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and was honored 3 times as a typical intellectual in Science and Technology at the provincial level. Teacher Huynh Duy Thuy was also awarded the title of National and grassroots Emulation Fighter, Third-class Labor Medal, etc.

During his teaching career, teacher Huynh Duy Thuy participated in training the math team of Binh Dinh province and had 38 students win national prizes.

Teacher Huynh Duy Thuy is also known as a person with a sincere, simple lifestyle and a lot of compassion. He has taken a part of his pension to give to disadvantaged students in Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province.

"I am very happy to receive the noble title of People's Teacher. The feeling is hard to describe! This achievement is not only mine but also the whole team's. I sincerely express my sincere and deep gratitude to the leaders at all levels for always caring, encouraging and supporting me during my working time.

Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated and commended the achievements and contributions of teachers in recent times. In particular, the teachers who have just been awarded the title of People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher by the President.

"We are proud and grateful to the teachers in the entire education sector of the province who have always been dedicated and devoted, becoming exemplary models of responsibility, creativity, love, companionship and inspiration for generations of students," Mr. Giang shared.

The Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee requested that the province's Education and Training sector needs to be more innovative, creative, united and disciplined, maintain and improve the quality of education and training in accordance with the spirit of the resolution of the Party Central Committee.

Mass organizations continue to pay more attention and invest more in education and in the teaching staff, especially those working in remote areas, ethnic minority areas, etc.
