Teacher Lam Es, born in 1940 in a Khmer farming family, in Tra Tep hamlet, Thanh Phu commune, My Xuyen district, Soc Trang province.

During his time working, he compiled many sets of bilingual Khmer-Vietnamese textbooks for high school students. The Khmer textbook series edited by Mr. Lam Es has been reprinted many times and has become the textbook series officially used for teaching and learning Khmer language to this day.

In particular, since the 2005-2006 school year, a new set of Khmer books for primary school students in ethnic minority areas has been officially introduced into teaching. In addition, he has many works related to the teaching and learning of Khmer that have had a nationwide impact.

The research and textbook compilation of People's Teacher Lam Es all aim to help learners of Khmer read and write correctly. The Khmer textbooks compiled by him are highly appreciated by the Ministry of Education and Training.

People's Teacher Lam Es has about 100 published books, of which 53 are of national significance. There are many valuable book sets, such as: Khmer Literature Set for primary to secondary school students; Book set for Southern Intermediate Pali Cultural Supplementary School from grade 10 to grade 12; Khmer language teaching textbooks at secondary schools and colleges; Basic Khmer language teaching materials to improve the qualifications of cadres.

Not only focusing on investing in book compilation, People's Teacher Lam Es also regularly teaches Khmer Literature classes in places in need. His wish is to bring knowledge to all Khmer people so that they can improve their awareness and improve their material and spiritual life.

With his great contributions to the education cause, Mr. Lam Es was honored by the State with the title of Excellent Teacher in 1994; in 2002, he was awarded the title of People's Teacher.

Mr. Lam Es was also awarded the Third Class Labor Medal in 2008 and many certificates of merit from the Prime Minister, the President, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, the Ministry of Education and Training, the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, and the Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province.
