General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong presented the 60-year Party membership badge and flowers to former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh. On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the General Secretary warmly congratulated Comrade Nong Duc Manh, former General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and a Party member at the Party Central Office, on the occasion of receiving the 60-year Party membership badge - a very meaningful and noble award of our Party. The General Secretary said that this is not only a personal honor and pride for Comrade Nong Duc Manh and his family, but also a common joy for the Party Central Office, and for all of us.
The General Secretary stated that Comrade Nong Duc Manh is an ethnic minority cadre, born and raised in a mountainous region in the North with a rich tradition of patriotism and revolution, having held many positions from the grassroots to Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the 9th and 10th National Assembly, and General Secretary of the 9th Party Central Committee (2001-2006 term), 10th term (2006-2011 term). Regardless of his position, he is always absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the People; steadfast in the Party's goals and ideals; constantly studying, cultivating, training, and striving to successfully complete all assigned tasks.
As Chairman of the National Assembly, he has made many contributions to improving the quality of the National Assembly's activities and building a socialist rule-of-law state of Vietnam of the people, by the people, and for the people. As General Secretary of the Party Central Committee, with his rich practical experience, he and the Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat have led the entire Party, people, and army to achieve many great achievements in the cause of comprehensive and extensive international integration and innovation; industrialization, modernization, construction, and defense of the Fatherland. As a cadre who grew up from the grassroots, Comrade Nong Duc Manh has always been close to the masses, upholding principles, respecting and maintaining solidarity, promoting collective intelligence, and democracy in leadership, direction, assistance, and passing on experience to the next generation.
In recognition of his achievements and contributions to the Party's revolutionary cause, the Party Committee of the Central Agencies Bloc decided to award him the 60-year Party membership badge.
On this occasion, the General Secretary warmly congratulates Comrade Nong Duc Manh; wishes him and his family good health, happiness, longevity, and much joy in life. Hopes that he will continue to contribute more to the glorious revolutionary cause of our Party, State and People.
Speaking at the ceremony, former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh expressed his honor to receive the noble title bestowed by the Party; thanked the Party Committee of the Central Party Office for solemnly organizing this ceremony; thanked General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Party and State leaders, delegates and comrades who attended the ceremony and gave him their warm and sincere feelings.
Former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh said that he joined the revolutionary movement in 1958, when he was 18 years old, and was admitted to the Party five years later, on July 5, 1963. On this occasion, he sincerely expressed his deep gratitude to beloved Uncle Ho, to the Party, the State and the people; thanked the leaders and former leaders of the Party and the State; local Party committees and authorities; central departments, branches and organizations; comrades and colleagues at the places where he studied and worked who helped him train, strive and complete the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the people.
The comrade stated that during his lifetime, Uncle Ho affirmed that “Our Party is truly great”. He left us and future generations a priceless legacy - the Ho Chi Minh era. The entire nation under the leadership of the Party, like an army always moving forward, like the majestic melody of the National Anthem resounding in the Flag Raising Ceremony every morning at the historic Ba Dinh Square. Proud of our Party, our nation and beloved Uncle Ho, with the responsibility of a Party member, he vows to be absolutely loyal to the Party’s ideals and guidelines; always imbued with the morality of love and justice, exemplary in studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style, worthy of being a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
At the ceremony, leaders of the Party, State, Central Party Office, and General Secretary's Office presented flowers and congratulated former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.
