With the efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City Badminton Federation, the tournament has grown stronger and has been upgraded to BWF Tour Super 100 with an attractive total prize of 100,000 USD (about 2.5 billion VND).

The biggest hope for Vietnamese badminton at this year's tournament is still on the beautiful and talented player Nguyen Thuy Linh, currently ranked 22nd in the world. As the highest-ranked player, Nguyen Thuy Linh was chosen as the number 1 seed in the women's singles event. Competing with the number 1 Vietnamese player are notable faces such as Anupama (India, ranked 44th in the world), Lauren Lam (USA, ranked 47th in the world), Lin Hsiang-ti (Taiwan, ranked 54th in the world).
