With her innate musical talent, outstanding personality and "bright" stage appearance, Nguyen Thi Thao, a student of Vocal Music K11, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, has just won the Youth Music Champion award at the Vietnam Music Talent Program 2024.
Nguyen Thi Thao has a "bright" stage appearance.
Born and raised in Sam Son beach, in a family where no one pursued a professional artistic career, Thao was fortunate to have her family support and create all conditions for her to pursue her passion.
Showing artistic talent from a young age, Nguyen Thi Thao has always been an outstanding factor participating in cultural and artistic movements at school. Besides her musical talent, Thao also loves and has a knack for aerobics and has won several city-level awards for this subject. This is also an important supporting factor that helps Thao's performance style become confident, individual and attractive to the audience.
Nguyen Thi Thao is currently a 2nd year student, majoring in Vocal Music K11, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Vietnam Music Talent Show 2024 is a prestigious program, attracting more than 500 contestants nationwide, perhaps the biggest stage Thao has ever participated in. After two preliminary and semi-final rounds held in 3 regions across the country, surpassing hundreds of contestants, the Organizing Committee and the jury of the competition found the 15 most promising singers to participate in the final round. After the first moment of being overwhelmed, Thao was calm and confident, performing the song "Half a decade" by Hoang Dung.

Nguyen Thi Thao shared: “Standing on stage, in front of many big names and a large audience, I sang with all my passion and tried to perform confidently. Fortunately, my performance touched the hearts of the judges and the audience. The moment I was called the Champion of the Youth Music Series was extremely happy for me. Perhaps singing with all my heart helped me succeed.”
To achieve success in a major competition with many strong competitors from all over the country, Nguyen Thi Thao spent a lot of time practicing, constantly trying to improve her vocal ability and performance style to express the "soul" of the song, conveying the artistic intention and message that the author sent.
On her musical journey, Nguyen Thi Thao believes that she was lucky to meet Meritorious Teacher Pham Hoang Hien, Head of the Music Department, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism. “During the time studying with teacher Hoang Hien from grade 10 until now, she has inspired me with passion and positive energy from her love for music. Not only did we learn about Vocal Music, but we also learned from her lessons on how to behave and how to become a good person,” Nguyen Thi Thao added.

Commenting on his student, Distinguished Teacher Pham Hoang Hien, Head of the Music Department, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: "Nguyen Thi Thao is a student who is truly passionate about singing. She has a beautiful, modern and unique voice. I appreciate Thao's spirit of learning, exploration and creativity in singing and performing. Thao is meticulous and serious, always conscious of maintaining a beautiful image from style, costume to performance - these are the essential elements of an artist.
With Thao's voice and style, the teacher and student discussed and oriented Thao towards light music. Thao herself is also very suitable and passionate about light music. During this period, I will continue to train Thao in higher vocal techniques, parallel to performing arts so that Thao can master the knowledge and skills, creating the premise for the process of developing her singing voice later on."
Meritorious teacher Pham Hoang Hien believes that the award that Nguyen Thi Thao won this time is a launching pad to motivate her to continue to strive, train to develop her career, and demonstrate herself in larger professional competitions.
Nguyen Thi Thao won the championship in the light music category with a prize of 180 million VND from the Organizing Committee.
Not only Thao but also all students studying at the Faculty of Vocal Music, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in addition to learning knowledge and skills at school, students are always oriented to have practical experiences in large and small specialized programs and competitions to interact and express their musical personality, performance skills...

“When Thao participated in the Vietnam Music Talent Contest in 2024, the teacher and student outlined a specific training roadmap by choosing songs that were suitable for her voice, had a competitive quality, and had highlights for creativity, then practiced in each round. Careful and serious from song selection, arrangement, practice, costumes, so that when performing, she had to convince the judges and the audience through her voice, technique, creativity and performance style, especially conveying the content and music to the listeners... Once she had a specific direction, the teacher and student just practiced enthusiastically, sometimes forgetting to eat and drink" - Meritorious teacher Pham Hoang Hien added.
Sharing about her future plans, Nguyen Thi Thao said that the success from the Vietnam Music Talent Program is a stepping stone, an important milestone reminding her to always strive to practice continuously, following the "strategies" that teachers have guided her to become a professional singer in the future.
