With preferential loans to support women starting businesses, many women's union members of Bac Ninh province have overcome barriers to production and business.
Support women entrepreneurs to access preferential loans
The Women's Union of Bac Ninh province has effectively implemented policy credit entrustment activities with the Social Policy Bank to lend to poor households and other policy beneficiaries in the province.
Implementing the Government's Project 939 on "Supporting women to start businesses in the period of 2017-2025" and Project 01 on "Supporting cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for female workers by 2030" in the province, the Women's Union of Bac Ninh province has directed Women's Unions at all levels in the province to promote support for members in linking and cooperating in production with enterprises and economic organizations to expand production, increase capital efficiency and protect the interests of members. Activities to support women to start businesses and develop businesses in the province are carried out on many scales, suitable for each type of production and business organization.
Many female members in the province confidently start a business
The Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a Decision approving the Plan to implement Project 939 of the province, including the content of arranging capital from the local budget, entrusted through the Provincial Social Policy Bank to provide loans to support women starting businesses; advising and proposing policies to the Provincial People's Council to issue a Resolution on using local budget capital entrusted through the branch of the Social Policy Bank to provide loans to women starting businesses in the province. It clearly stipulates that the maximum loan amount for each project is 2 billion VND, the maximum loan term is 5 years, and the preferential interest rate is 5%/year (lower than the interest rate for loans to poor households).
Women members are confident in doing business
Thanks to loans to support women starting businesses, women's union members in Bac Ninh province have had more finance and motivation to turn their business ideas into reality.
With a loan of 700 million VND, Ms. Vu Thi Tho (Vu Hoa commune, Luong Tai district) has had additional funds to improve the land and buy breeds to develop agricultural production areas in the direction of VietGAP. Ms. Tho shared: Starting a business in 2019, thanks to timely disbursement of capital as well as the application of science and technology, up to now, my family's production model has developed with 21 hectares of diverse farming, intercropping with rice, crops, raising fish, cows, chickens... bringing high economic efficiency, each year her family earns 500 - 600 million VND.
In early 2022, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha's family (Long Chau commune, Yen Phong district) began accessing capital to support women's startups. This was the motivation that helped Ms. Ha and her husband confidently expand the scale of their startup project. Ms. Ha said that while the couple was struggling to find capital with the desire to expand the goat farming model, they were fortunate to learn about this preferential interest rate capital through activities at the Women's Union. With the disbursed amount of 2 billion VND, Ms. Ha's commercial goat farming project became a reality. With capital, the couple boldly invested heavily, renting more than 2,000 square meters of land planned for livestock farming and building a farm, buying 1,000 goats to raise. Up to now, her family's goat herd has grown significantly, selling about 500 goats per month.
According to the report of the Women's Union of Bac Ninh province, by April 2024, the Women's Union of the province had received more than 1,100 ideas for women to start businesses and start businesses; 100% of the ideas received were supported and assisted according to their needs; 233 projects received loans to develop production and business, with a total accumulated disbursed capital of over 166.7 billion VND , of which 14 cooperatives and 31 enterprises owned by women were supported with loans. Thereby contributing to creating jobs for over 1,100 local workers.
Currently, the Women's Union of Bac Ninh province is managing 968 savings and loan groups with more than 40,000 members borrowing capital, with a total outstanding debt of nearly 2,000 billion VND.
Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union Tran Lan Phuong inspected and supervised the activities of receiving entrusted loans and activities to support the economic empowerment of women in Bac Ninh province.
During the inspection and supervision of the entrusted lending activities and activities to support the economic empowerment of women in Bac Ninh province, Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Tran Lan Phuong acknowledged and highly appreciated the implementation of the entrusted activities of the Policy Bank and the support to enhance the economic empowerment of women of the Bac Ninh Provincial Women's Union in the past time.
Vice President Tran Lan Phuong suggested that in the coming time, the Provincial Women's Union should further strengthen the inspection and supervision of loan entrustment activities from the Social Policy Bank; provide training to improve professional knowledge and management skills for entrustment managers and leaders of Savings and Loan Groups. At the same time, promote solutions to support women's economic empowerment in conjunction with programs and projects of the Central and the province, thereby contributing to enhancing the role and position of women in society.
