Abundant Tet orchid sources, Da Nang gardeners just wait for customers to come buy

A large number of orchids are being carefully cared for by gardeners in Da Nang, ready to supply the 2025 Tet flower market.

Orchids are one of the most sought-after flowers every spring. Many people are willing to spend from several million to several hundred million to have colorful orchid pots to display during Tet.

In particular, with beautiful flowers, long lasting and the ability to bloom all year round, Mokara orchids have become increasingly popular in recent years. Many gardeners have switched to growing large quantities of this orchid, bringing high economic value.

With an area of over 2 hectares, the orchid garden of Mr. Ho Huu Hoang (Hoa Chau commune, Hoa Vang district) is one of the largest orchid gardens in Da Nang. It grows nearly 200,000 Mokara orchids, diverse in color and species.

Mr. Hoang said that to meet the high demand for orchids during Tet, his garden has nearly 10 workers who regularly water, fertilize and prevent pests, ensuring that each orchid is carefully cared for.

“In winter, the weather is humid and there is little sunlight, so orchids are susceptible to fungal diseases. We have to use roofs, ventilation fans, and lighting at night for the orchids to grow best. Regular inspection, timely fertilization, and spraying are also very important,” Mr. Hoang shared.

According to Mr. Hoang, during Tet, customers often order large pots of orchids in a variety of colors. Depending on the quantity and arrangement, each pot of orchids usually costs from several million to tens of millions of VND.

According to research, gardeners currently supply Mokara orchids in all sizes, with seedlings priced at around 20,000 - 25,000 VND/plant. Flowering plants cost around 150,000 - 180,000 VND/plant. In addition, traders also purchase cut orchids for around 8,000 VND/branch to decorate events, weddings, etc.

Not only Mokara orchids, many other orchid gardens are also busy these days for Tet. Huong Phat Loc orchid garden in Hoa Phuoc commune (Hoa Vang district) with more than a dozen different types is ready to bloom in the first days of the year.

“For many people, colorful orchid pots are not only beautiful but also have feng shui meaning, symbolizing luck and fortune for the new year. Hopefully, the orchid market this year will be more exciting than previous years,” said the owner of this orchid garden.

At orchid gardens in Da Nang, the price of Phalaenopsis orchids is around 250,000 VND/plant, cattleya 300,000 VND/plant, cymbidium 600,000 - 800,000 VND/pot, and Nghinh Xuan 800,000 - 1 million VND/pot.
