Vietnamese Family Day June 28 is a special occasion, with profound meaning in the consciousness of every Vietnamese person. This is a day for everyone to connect, honor family values and together build a solid foundation for the future. Where did this holiday start and what is its meaning?
Origin of Vietnamese Family Day June 28
Always emphasizing the role of family in the overall development of society, President Ho Chi Minh once said: "Caring about family is right because many families together make up a society, good families make a good society, good society makes better families, the nucleus of society is the family". Responding to that teaching of Uncle Ho, on June 28, 2000, the Politburo issued Directive No. 55-CT/TW on strengthening the leadership of Party committees at the grassroots level in the work of protecting, caring for and educating children.
The Directive considers building a sustainable and happy family an important goal, requires promoting the role and responsibility of the family, helping and creating necessary conditions for families to fulfill their responsibilities towards the younger generation, and creating a healthy environment for children's development.
Nearly a year later, on May 4, 2001, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 72/2001/QD-TTg to make June 28 every year Vietnamese Family Day. This decision aims to promote, maintain and develop the good cultural values of Vietnamese families in the context of modern society.
The Decision also emphasizes the role of families and the responsibility of officials at all levels and the entire society in building civilized, equal, progressive and happy families, promoting the protection, care and education of children, contributing to building and defending the Fatherland.
The birth of this day originated from the purpose of creating a day for everyone to have the opportunity to build their family together, to have a deeper awareness of the important role of family in personal and social life.
