Every September 2nd, Vietnamese people in general and overseas Vietnamese in Laos in particular are moved and proud of their country's National Day - the day that opened the era of national independence and socialism for the Vietnamese people.

Having lived and worked in Laos for more than 30 years, Mr. Dong Cong Dung - Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Champasak province, always feels moved, proud and nationalistic every time he celebrates National Day on September 2. Because for him, that is the day the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, was born, opening a new era - the era of national independence and socialism for the Vietnamese people.

According to Mr. Dong Cong Dung, this is also an occasion for all Vietnamese people, including overseas Vietnamese, to turn to the Fatherland, together remember the great sacrifices of many generations of ancestors for national independence, be grateful for the contributions of Uncle Ho, and be proud of the great victories and achievements that Vietnam has achieved since 1945 until now.

Commenting on this, Mr. Phi Van Mai - Chairman of the Vietnamese Association of Oudomxay province, said that 78 years after independence, Vietnam, from a poor and backward country, has made great strides so that by 2022, our country's economy ranked 37th in the world and has full potential to develop faster and stronger in the future.

Mr. Phi Van Mai said he felt very honored and proud to witness the great and remarkable achievements that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have achieved over the past 78 years; he believes that in the near future, Vietnam will become more and more beautiful, and the Vietnamese people will stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.

Born and raised in a family that has lived in Laos for many generations, even though she is now over 60 years old, Ms. Tran Thi Bach Lan - Vice President of the Vietnamese Association of Savannakhet province, still follows the development of the country.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Bach Lan, since our Party and State carried out the comprehensive renovation of the country, Vietnam's political position has been constantly enhanced.

To date, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 192 countries and territories (including 190/193 United Nations member countries), built strategic partnerships and comprehensive partnerships with 30 countries, including all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, contributing to more firmly positioning Vietnam's position in relations with major countries in the context of many changes in the regional and world situation.

Vietnam has also participated and contributed increasingly actively, proactively, effectively, and diversely in terms of level, form and method, becoming a responsible member of the international community.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Bach Lan, Vietnam's voice is increasingly important in regional and international issues, and Vietnam's capacity to chair, manage and lead at regional and international conferences, forums and organizations is also increasingly affirmed.

Ms. Tran Thi Bach Lan believes that with its important geo-economic and political position, its foundation, potential, position and rising international prestige, Vietnam has a favorable basis to position itself, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region as well as in the world.

Assessing the policy of our Party and State towards overseas Vietnamese, Ms. Pham Thi Ban - President of the Vietnamese Association of Luang Prabang Province - said that our Party and State always identify "Overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part and a resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community". The attention of the Party and State has helped the majority of our compatriots have legal status and stable life, integrate more deeply into the local society, have opportunities to do business, develop the economy and life.

Ms. Pham Thi Ban said she is very aware of the position, role and relationship between the Vietnamese community abroad and the great national unity bloc, through the policies of the Party and State of Vietnam such as the 2008 Nationality Law, Party Congress documents, Resolution 36, Conclusion No. 12-KL/TW on the work of Vietnamese people abroad in the new situation.

She emphasized that the correct viewpoints and policies of the Party and State have created firm trust in the Vietnamese community residing abroad, contributing greatly to consolidating and strengthening the great national unity bloc and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
