On the eve of National Digital Transformation Day October 10, on October 8, at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the Information and Communications Publishing House organized an exchange program to introduce the book Determann's Guide to Personal Data Protection Law .
Nowadays, personal data protection is receiving more and more attention in the development trend of the digital age. However, how to raise awareness, minimize risks, ensure safety as well as legal understanding of data protection in general and personal data in particular is still the content that managers, each business organization and individual are constantly studying, researching and applying.
Faced with the need to protect personal data and comply with the law, Information and Communication Publishing House introduces to readers the publication Determann's Guide to Personal Data Protection Law by author Lothar Determann.
The author Lothar Determann is a law professor who has worked and taught for more than twenty years in the fields of international data security, commercial law and intellectual property, computer law, Internet law, etc. in Germany and the United States. He has written many articles and books on these fields, thereby exchanging and sharing experiences in building, collecting, protecting, securing and securing data in the process of digital transformation in the face of the rapid development of digital technology.

Determann’s Guide to Personal Data Protection Law is aimed at a wide audience. Before Vietnamese, the book was published in many languages around the world such as Chinese, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and will continue to be published in more languages in the future.
The publication was translated by many people, in which MSc. Tran Manh Hung and Truong Tan Dung were the two main translators. Present at the exchange program, MSc. Tran Manh Hung happily shared that, in the past, we talked about gold and diamonds; but now we talk a lot about data.
“In today’s world, data itself is being exploited and used, becoming a very high commercial advantage for businesses, especially for technology companies around the world. At the same time, US reports also clearly state that every click on the internet is recorded and it becomes history on the internet,” Mr. Hung added.
According to Master Tran Manh Hung, personal data is such a valuable intangible asset, but at the same time, it is also the most violated object in cyberspace as well as the most attacked in the world. “Therefore, data protection has become a hot issue not only in Vietnam, in the region but also around the world. This requires governments of countries, especially Vietnam, to have a legal basis to protect personal data,” Mr. Hung emphasized.
At the program, Master Tran Manh Hung said that Vietnamese people are still easygoing in protecting personal data. Only recently, when Decree 13 of the Government on personal data protection was issued, did people's awareness, especially businesses, begin to increase.
