The auction winner of VIP license plate 30L-999.99 has paid more than 12 billion VND

Hanoi license plate 30L-999.99 was put up for online auction at noon on December 4. After many rounds of bidding, a customer won the auction with a bid of more than 12.1 billion.

On the evening of December 18, information from the Traffic Police Department said that a customer who won the auction for car license plate 30L-999.99 (Hanoi area code) had fulfilled his financial obligations by paying the full amount into the Ministry of Public Security 's specialized collection account of 12,105 billion VND.

The super VIP license plate 30L-999.99 was put up for online auction at noon on December 4. After many rounds of bidding, the above customer won the auction with a sum of more than 12.1 billion.

The winning bid was recorded for the license plate 30K-999.99.

Notably, on September 27, the above-mentioned five-digit number plate with 9s was bid for more than 16.7 billion VND and won the auction. However, the winning bidder withdrew the deposit.

Also related to the license plate auction, on September 26, in the auction that took place at 10am the same day, the super VIP license plate for a car with Hanoi region code 30K-999.99 was paid the highest price by a customer at 22.370 billion VND.

According to the Traffic Police Department, the first auction of car license plates took place on September 15, 2023. To date, after more than a year of implementation, the authorities have collected nearly 4,500 billion VND for the state budget through the license plate auction.

From January 1, 2025, when the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety comes into effect, the auction of license plates will be legalized for cars, motorbikes and scooters.

The new regulation also allows auctions of license plates for private cars, business transport cars (yellow background, black letters and numbers) and motorbikes. The starting price for car license plates is 40 million VND, while the starting price for motorbikes and scooters is 5 million VND.

Before each auction, the authorities will publicly announce the number of people registering to participate in the auction for each license plate. Notably, for license plates in the format AAAAA (five of a kind) and ABCDE, the starting price for the second auction is 500 million VND (for cars) and 50 million VND (for motorbikes).

In addition, the person who wins the license plate auction is obliged to pay the full amount within 30 days from the date of announcement of the auction result. The auction winning amount does not include registration and license plate fees.

After 30 days, if the auction winner does not pay or does not pay enough money, the license plate will be auctioned again or transferred to the vehicle registration and management system.

Notably, auction winners who forfeit their deposit will not be refunded their deposit or payment and will not be allowed to participate in the license plate auction for 12 months.
