Statements that received public backlash

Recently, a TV station's MC caused public outrage when he posted an article on social media, complaining about the traffic jam caused by the military parade rehearsal to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South on April 30.

In the post, she expressed her frustration at being stuck in traffic and said she was “not proud” of the event. This statement immediately received a wave of strong criticism from the online community, who said she was disrespectful of historical values and the sacrifices of previous generations. In response to the backlash, the MC apologized, admitting that she was careless with her words and felt “regretful and ashamed” for her statement.

After the MC above, it was the turn of model and singer LTC to make a shocking statement related to the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. Right under this person’s post, netizens flooded in to express their disagreement. Netizens not only criticized but also called for a “boycott” of this singer…

It is understandable that public opinion and the online community are upset with the words and actions of some individuals. Because history is not just numbers and events taught in books. History is sweat, blood, and sacrifices that have written the golden pages of national independence, so that the country can have today's peace and development.

The trend of "reviving" the heroic history of the nation

Besides a group of people who are indifferent, ignorant or underestimate historical values, there are young people who always live responsibly and are grateful. The gratitude of young people can be expressed in many forms. It is studying hard, constantly striving for the development of the country. It is learning history, cherishing traditional values, participating in "gratitude" activities, visiting martyrs' cemeteries, or simply a touching moment of silence during the flag-raising ceremony. These seemingly small actions contribute to deepening national spirit and pride.

Young people have been having meaningful activities, programs and beautiful ideas towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification on April 30. That is the campaign "Flowers for martyrs' graves" to burn incense, visit, take care of, clean martyrs' cemeteries and learn about history at cemeteries such as: Truong Son Cemetery, Quang Tri Citadel, Dien Bien A1 Hill... Inviting veterans and historical witnesses to share directly at schools, universities or via livestream with the themes "Memories of April 30", "A time of fire and flowers", "Unforgettable years"...

In particular, young people also designed creative publications: infographics, postcards to celebrate April 30; the trend "Red flag with yellow star" on social networks, together changing profile pictures, avatar frames with the theme "April 30 - National pride", writing statuses, making short clips recounting memories from grandparents and parents about the historic April 30. Families and youth groups responded to the campaign "Beloved Vietnam", spreading the image of the red flag with yellow star at a series of famous destinations on the occasion of April 30.

The project “Preserving memories” with the creation of interview videos, recording the stories of veterans, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and storing them as a “living archive” has been well received by many young people. Reconstructing history through artistic and technological creativity with the Vietnamese historical game “7554” set in the context of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. Letter writing and video making contests “Letter to a soldier” or “Vietnam’s heroic spirit” on social networks have attracted hundreds of thousands of young people to participate, expressing gratitude to those who have fallen for the country.

Many places also organize revolutionary music performances such as: Like having Uncle Ho in the great victory day, Tien Quan Ca, Giai Phong Mien Nam in school yards or public places. Video, article, and painting contests about national history, media projects "Living with memories", "Telling historical stories through podcasts" or YouTube channels of students retelling war stories in a youthful style are contributing to "reviving" the heroic history of the nation...
