Light Up is one of four projects under JCI Da Nang , with the goal of improving the quality of life for people in disadvantaged areas lacking lighting conditions, based on the 17 sustainable development goals (17 SDGs) of the United Nations.

After more than 5 hours of traveling from Da Nang city, members of JCI Vietnam and JCI Da Nang arrived at Tu Linh peak in Tra Lap commune, Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province.

On this trip, members of JCI Da Nang came and presented 20 sets of solar lights to the people of Tra Lap commune with a total value of about 120 million VND. This trip was sponsored by SCCO Gein Academy, Bao Tram Trading & Service Co., Ltd., Xanh Dental Clinic, Van Chuong Dental Clinic, and Nhan Decor by Lighting.

According to research, Noc Tu Linh in Tra Lap commune is a particularly difficult location with 20 households and 86 people. This is an area without national grid electricity, a mountainous area, no road to go up, and the government has not yet had an official plan to bring electricity to the locality. The people mainly work in farming, with economic difficulties.

After traveling 200km from Da Nang to Tra Lap commune, the young people had to climb the mountain for nearly 2 hours to reach the location to give away the lanterns.

Receiving the solar lights, Mr. Ho Van Vinh (born in 1982, resident of Tra Lap commune) could not hide his emotion: "I really feel very happy because of the noble gestures from the young people of JCI Da Nang. Now my children no longer have to sit by the fire to study, my house as well as the people here have more light than ever", Mr. Vinh confided.

JCI Da Nang 2025 Chairman Do Trong Anh Vu shared: “For us, this is not just about lighting up with lights but also lighting up hope, opening up opportunities to study, work and change lives. The project is also an environment for young people to commit, to act, to feel the value of giving. We believe that each light bulb lit is a seed for the future sown. And for that journey to continue, we look forward to receiving the companionship of partners, donors and young people with the same ideals - together spreading light not only to the community but also to our own hearts”.

The event received great support from the people of Tra Lap commune.

Continuing the journey of Lighting up Tu Linh, the Lighting up project will continue to move forward to Mang Oi, a village in Tra Tap commune, where 42 households live, with more than 200 people, including over 70 children.

The Mang Oi Rooftop Lighting Program is in the process of surveying and calling for support from the community, businesses and volunteers. Support in terms of financial resources, solar energy equipment or any form of contribution is a precious ray of light that helps us shorten the journey of bringing electricity to the people.
