Tan Do people preserve national cultural identity to develop tourism

The national solidarity festival of Tan Do hamlet, Hoa Binh commune, Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen province, which took place last November, left many unforgettable impressions on visitors from near and far and local people with art programs imbued with the cultural identity of the Nung people, with smooth, sweet and profound Then and Sli melodies, combined with the Tinh lute that captivated listeners.


Since 2004, Tan Do hamlet has established an art club with 11 core members, most of whom are knowledgeable about traditional folk art and know how to sing Then and Sli Luong melodies such as Mr. Hoang Van Toong, Nguyen Van Hung, Mrs. Ly Thi Hoan, To Thi Binh, and Dam Thi Lanh.

With the belief of preserving the language and singing so that the culture and origin of our nation will not be lost, over time, our predecessors have always made efforts to instruct and teach the younger generations songs that are familiar in daily life. Therefore, the Club has maintained its activities over the years.

In particular, in 2023, the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures organized a training class, instructing the villagers and students of the hamlet to practice some traditional sli singing tunes, learn about the history, content and meaning of Nung ethnic tunes, the hamlet's art club was launched with 19 official members and dozens of reserve members who are youth and children...

Along with the singing, the people in Tan Do hamlet also care about and preserve the beauty of traditional ethnic costumes and musical instruments. Currently, in the hamlet, there is Mr. Trinh Van Kien who has self-studied and made the Tinh lute, making musical instruments for the students of the performing arts club. Or like Mrs. Lang Thi Phong, Lang Thi Loi, Dam Thi Lanh, To Thi Binh still receive orders to sew and hand-stitch Nung costumes for the local people.

With the efforts of the people, in 2023, from the State budget, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism invested in the construction of the project "Preserving the traditional village of the Nung ethnic group", including the following items: Preserving and restoring the village communal house; building a new community cultural activity house with a total area of ​​2,000m2; preserving traditional stilt houses for 5 households, placing signs to serve tourists... The total construction cost is 10.6 billion VND.

The project was completed and put into use in the second quarter of 2024, creating favorable conditions for people to participate in community activities, promoting cultural, artistic and sports activities. In particular, developing tourism activities imbued with the cultural identity of the local people.
